Hello everybody,
I am married to a Ghanian guy who lived most of his life in Europe.I said this because he is not helping me about Ghana so I decided to ask you.
We are going to Accra to visit his family.
I am wondering what things I should do there.Is it safe me and my daughter to go around without him.
Is there big shopping centres to get food for my 6 years old daughter as she is a pain when it comes to food:).
we will stay 10 days.Please tell me which places I should see.

Hi, this might be a little late but I just wanted to reassure you that in my experience Ghana is a very safe place, I am a 23 year old woman and lived there for three months by myself through their elections and felt safer there than in England. The most dangerous thing i experienced was the driving! I didn't spend much time in Accra so can't help out much with the shopping centre but I found you can get bread and something to spread on it almost anywhere. As for things to do Cape Coast castle is well worth a look and only a 3 hour journey from Accra.

In this country the peoples live the dead in a differnt way from from Europe : who has the sufficient money asks the carpenter to construct one coffin that must have a shape that remembers the job of the defunct one.
In fact If u are a pilot you will have an airplane, but if u are a bartender you have a coffin shaped like a bottle
This is the best restaurant with Indian dishes of Ghana and maybe West Africa.
You have very large choice of different dishes and a lot of delicious vegetarian dishes.
Decoration has been done to remember India, so the music is.
The restaurant is successfull, so it is sometimes difficult to have a place, and these days, service can be very long. The best is to go with Indian friends who can monitor you into the menu.
I enjoy when I reserve a large table with plenty of friends and we try a little bit of everything.
a quiet/ decent place with some joints to spend evening...easily accessible being "jokers". there is a casino too.
else the city has good road, flyovers, restaurants, hotels but lacks entertainment centres.no cinema halls..guess one is coming up in may'07 types...rather very less beaches..need to travel by road from accra for an hour or so to reach decent beach..where entry is paid but the infrastructure for food, bathing is decent on the beach.
