Campement du Lion-Park Niokolo Koba -Senegal by johnsakura This "Lions campground" is located 8km away from Simenti Hotel. Here you are on thr route to see the hippos at the river Gambia. Facilities are quite nice and i think they just have been renovated as it all looked new to me.
People say this is the most relaxed place to stay in the Park. The price should be a bit lower than Simenti hotel. I just passed here to meet some people so I cant tell you about my stay. You can see the facilities picture above. Theme: CampgroundPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: least expensiveDirections: 8km from Simenti Hotel

Simenti Hotel-Park Niokolo Koba-Senegal by johnsakura This was a very nice place in the middle of the jungle. This is a huge hotel complex that has accomodations for every single peoples tastes. You can rent a big room private bathroom and AC, or you can just do like we did, rented some shacks out side into the bushes on the monkeys playground.
The hotel has full capacity to make tourist have what they want. restaurants swiming pool (smelly and out of order). This hotel have somthing very special that is the fact of being right in front of the Gambian river. You can enjoy the view of the crocodiles and many monkeys (hundreds of them) live here also. Here at the hotel they can arrange you trips on trucks into the jngle to see other sights in the park paying +-7000CFA for a half-day trip and meals at the restaurant can get to 5000CFA per person. A double shack costed 60000CFA. You need to bring mosquito protection net to install in your bed. In the morning dont be afraid of the monkeys jumping to the roof of your shack or trying to break or car apart as you just rented a little wood shack right in the middle of their playground. Youth Hostel Tambacounda-Senegal by johnsakura We got to this Auberge after we went to be received by the Mayor of Tambacounda. He was the one who ponited us a few hotels and auberges to stay. This seemed to be the kind of auberge du jeunesse in town, so we decided to come here.
This was a nice place, clean bathrooms and nice rooms with fans, which are very important taking in consideration you have 50 degrees during the day and maybe 45 during the night. you have also private water coolers in each room. Alakabung Lodge-Georgetown-The Gambia by johnsakura This hotel is located right on the main street, findlay street. People are quite nice altough some of them can be a bit like a pain in the ass trying to take ou one their private tours paying them as guides of course. just tell them their are pain in the ass and to stop talking about that. they will stop after a while. For my Georgetown page click here
The most amazing thing is to hear the monkeys all night. Gambia is an 100% tropical country so many monkeys live there. they have rooms with fans and private bathrooms. my room had the toilette broken and i had to get the water from the floor. rooms are quite cheap but they will over charge you on the food just to eat a simple spaguetti with tomato sauce. The picture is from inside the hotel where you can park your car inside the hotel's gate. Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Findlay StreetDirections: main street, is not difficult to find. just ask for the hotel. people will tell you. if you go alone just go down the street and look on the left side beside the local craft shop.

Mt. Zion opened my eyes to independent travel in Africa and the beauty of Zanzibar Island and its people. I found this hotel on a website, booked a plane ticket and went out to meet Zion Jumbe, the owner. He picked me up at the airport and took me to the most beautiful hotel I have ever seen in my life. Forget the nice basic room. This is set in a tropical garden on the edge of the ocean. The star show is the best in the world at night and everything is Hakuna Matata. 4x4 with tents, rented, South Africa by tompt There are many terrific campgrounds in Southern Africa. Standards are higher then one might think. Abolution blocks are good and clean.
Rent a car with tents or bring your own tent, it is all the same. Just be out there, where the animals are.

Rural Ghana by Docu2001 This hotel was recommended by a fellow traveler from England and I am so glad I took his advice. The ambience speaks of Ghana - not the cookie-cutter western clones you find sprinkled throughout the world. The colors, the sounds and the smells are all welcoming. As a bonus, it's also only five minutes ride on back roads from the airport and safely outside the traffic nightmare of downtown Accra.
Huge pool, clean rooms, great staff and a marguerita pizza from the bar, washed down with an ice cold Star beer ... Theme: HotelPrice: US$20-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: PO Box 9201 Airport, Accra, GhanaPhone: (233) (21) 761-877Directions: Airport Area - Accra
