Kamanjira Guest House: Don't bother
At first seems a pleasant enough place self contained rooms at a bit more than I would normally pay but because of the very low ceiling and small window as soon as the power failed the room got unbearably hot.

Thika Guest house: Best of the bunch
Thika guest house annexe not the Thika Guest House on the main drag that has a bar out front but the annexe situated behind the Casaurina nomad night club. Yes it was noisy at night no fan but had windows at either end of the already airy room that had a pleasant breeze blowing through, which quite happily cooled me as other places in town with fans got stuffy as Mtwapa’s erratic power failed once again.
Totaly basic, but cheap as yer hat and with especially friendly staff. Swahili is a big advantage here not much English spoken by the staff.
