Nyali Beach Hotel, Nyali,...
by hotlipz
Nyali Beach Hotel, Nyali, Mombasa, Kenya. This is the best hotel in Kenya (not my opinion - but the actual tourist grading). I was married there and I have never experienced such friendly, helpful, wonderful people - the staff of this hotel!! I cant praise them enough. It was built by an entrepeneur in the 30's very much in the White Mischief error of rich people escaping the depression of the late twenties and living the life of luxury in Africa. There is one bar called Harry's (he name of the person responsible for creating this wonderful place) which takes you right back to the Art Deco era - wonderful. I've just tried to surf for this particular hotel and it's been taken over by the Sheraton chain. Has any VT member been there since the takeover?
Compared with the UK it's an absolute bargain!! It cost me about £4,000 to get married (including taking my brother and sister-in-law out there)plus the two week holiday and safari's. It cost me £40,000 to divorce - so a bargain...I think....if it had been Mr Right!! Service that would put any hotel in the rest of the world to shame. We found out when staying there that this is the 'place' to work if you are in the leisure trade in Kenya. It's what workers strive for. If you live in the light poluted Western World just take time to look at the stars - there are so many and we saw about four shooting stars while we were there - that's a whole lot of wishes!!

NYALI BEACH HOTEL + MONKEYS
by pj2904
Hi,
Were staying at the Nyali beach hotel soon. What are the monkeys that live around the hotel actually like? Are they just naughty or more of a menace. I have read that given the opportunity they will get into your roon to find food!
Thanks,

Yeah, the monkeys might get into your room from the balcony; just make sure you lock the doors onto the balcony. They are just naughty but shouldn't really be encouraged by giving them food but you'll find lots of people doing just that.

they won´t threaten or bite you unless they feel cornered, so don´t try to touch them, and keep your room locked even if you do not have food inside - they can cause quite a lot of chaos if they break into it.
Nyali Beach Hotel

Hi,
I have just booked 2 weeks in Kenya staying at the Nyali (half board). Can't find many reviews about this hotel, has anyone stayed/visited there recently? It seems quite nice in the brochure (but most hotels do LOL). Any info/tips would be greatly appreciated. Also, best places to book a safari please. Thanks in advance.
