basic accomodations

Very basic accomodation by Western standards ( No AC for instance) but decnt place in a good location right next to the National Musuem and a few block North of Downtown.

Ok for a stopover

This hotel is ok for a budget stopover in Nairobi. The rooms are basic and could do with some updating, but if it's just a bed for the night with breakfast you are wanting it's fine.
I would recommend asking for a room on the side of the hotel facing away from the road. We stayed twice during our recent trip to Kenya and on both occasions got a room on the road side of the hotel and you do get quite a bit of traffic noise. That said we were all so tired that we slept fine (ear plugs always do the trick for me). It is set back from the road slightly.
There is a small shop selling basic items such as toiletries, batteries and souvenirs. We only ate in the hotel for breakfast and 1 lunch. The breakfast is buffet style with a reasonable selection hot and cold food.
The service was fine no issues. Restaurant staff were pleasant and helpful.
There is a pool that looked fine, but we didn't get the opportunity to use and also a tennis court behind the hotel. The gardens I must say are nice and beautifully kept.
Watch the road that leads up to the hotel if you are driving as it seemed to be the place in Nairobi for learner drivers to take their first lesson!
Overall it's not in the same league as The Stanley, where we also spent a night, but there again it was half the price!

Unique Quality: Nice gardens, pool looked nice.

Poor value

The staff were unhelpful and unfriendly. The room was advertised with Sat TV but when we arrived in our room there was not even a TV... this was rectified but took several calls to reception over a couple of hours. The room itself was pleasant and clean enough but I just found it very poor value for money being that we paid $96 per night... luckily only one night!!!

Hotel Boulevard

After twenty hours of travel (nearly twenty four for some in our group), we were happy to have arrived in Africa, never mind to have arrived at as nice a place as the Hotel Boulevard.

Located in the heart of Nairobi, just up the street from one of Nairobi's famed colonial-era hotels, the Boulevard is a simple, well-maintained place. We pulled in just in time to drop our bags and, exhaustion notwithstanding, head down to bar to sip on a first African beer - Tusker, in this case. One bottle was quite enough after a day of travel, and we all slept extremely well!

Our breakfast next day was excellent, a pattern that would repeat itself throughout our stay, with good local coffee and fresh, in-season fruit (that first day, we couldn't stop eating the sweet, small bananas).

Because the hotel was arranged through our tour company, MEM Tours in Moshi, we're not sure of the price per night, and since we had an early start next morning we unfortunately didn't get to check out any of the hotel's amenities, such as the pool.

A nice hotel

We stayed at the Hotel Boulevard in Nairobi on our way to and from Kilimanjaro. The hotel is located in it's own compound near at the end of Harry Thuku road. The facilities include facilities include swimming pool, tennis court, parking, international restaurants, bars, lounges, conference rooms, business centre, internet cafe and a convenience store. The restaraunt is especially good. There's not a lot to do in Nairobi, nor is it especially safe, so it's good to find a "self-contained" hotel if you can. Sorry, I can't remember the price we paid.

Neat and Nice Nairobi Place to put head on pillow

Yes, it had everything you need an more. Very comfortable. Though, there is cheaper. If you are travelling alone. I would highly recommend it. However, if you are more into back packing. I suggest Nairobi Backpackers. A couple of people I know stayed there and found there quite comfortable and the service there good too.

Unique Quality: It is quite a great place to stay. Very relaxing. Comfortable. Nice beds. Very large pool. Friendly staff. Good restaurant on the premises which has food at reasonable prices. I found it refreshing to stay here especially having stayed and seen much worse places. Very nice indeed. My room had a view of the round about. And people walking... walking... walking. All day and night. They just kept walking. I found it interesting...

Boulevard Hotel

Unique Quality: Although it is near a busy roundabout I remember the sound of the Nairobi river flowing next to the hotel garden, giving a feeling of calmness.
