We were greeted with smiles, the typical welcome cool drink of fruit juices and moist towel and lovingly cared for as we checked into the hotel.
Although everything was still a blurr to us - mainly due to the excitement of actually finally being here, I do remember one thing...
The genuine smile and wonderful way in which the management and reception met us. They seemed genuinely happy to see us arrive.
The rooms were wonderfully comfortable. Crisp white linen, wonderful soft pillows and firm mattresses.
The bathrooms were our first introduction of what appears to be standard with all the 4 and 5 star hotels in Kenya - a bidet!
After we had checked in, we had been adviced by the consierge to make our way down to the lobby for live music which would be begining in a short while. Deciding we needed to use up our pent up adrenaline, we took him up on it.
WHAT A GREAT TIME!
Imagine our surprise (being Cubans from Miami) when the music began and it consisted of a group of local Nairobi musicians playing and singing old time Cuban classic dance music!
Although sung 'Phoenetacailly", they were in unison, and dead on.
We danced Salsa, Merengue and had a wonderful time.
There are a wide choice of restaurants surrounding the bar area, including a raised casual dining/drinking area where, if you prefer, you can order from the bar and have simple sandwiches, burgers or light meals along with your drink. We opted for the latter.
Finally, breakfast is served in the rear restaurant facing the pool and gardens. HUGE array of African food as well as American and English. Included in the price of your room.
