Much better than some reviews

We were booked into this hotel for our first night in Nairobi, Having arrived late we were happy to get to our room to rest. We had read some poor reviews prior to our visit and weren't expecting much. But found excellant service, spacious and comfortable rooms(suites) with all the necessary facilities. We were quite dissapointed we had to transfer to another hotel for our second night in Nairobi. Breakfast was very good and the old style colonial bar a great atmosphere. On our return from Safari we had 8hrs to kill in Nairobi so chose the Safari club for a day room having a good lunch in the restaurant and comfortable facilities to relax and freshen up before our journey back to the UK.

Unique Quality: All the rooms are suites which gives all the extra space you need for added comfort,

No Longer a Members Only club

We enjoyed our stay here ~ the staff were friendly, polite, and extremely helpful.

Unique Quality: The Nairobi Safari Club emulates the old British Colonial atmosphere that you might imagine when thinking about Kenya, filled with dark wood, brass, and plush leather settees. It's also the only suites hotel in Nairobi (or it was in 2000 when we were there).

Great accomodation for "great" money

I was there twice: March 2002 and November 2004.
It's big, nice, comfortable and well located in the city center (near everything important or interesting). The service is very good, the rooms are big and comfortable, the food is good.

Unique Quality: "The only suit hotel in Nairobi" - as they advertise themselves, and it is true: you get a 2-room suit which is quite comfortable.
It provides great views of the city (if you get a room on the right side and in the right altitude:-))

Safari with Kids

by carmeninmadrid about Nairobi Safari Club

I found it really helpful to pamper ourselves with a 2 night stay in Nairobi to relax and prepare for the 6 days of Safai. The Nairobi Safari Club was very comfortable for us. The kids loved the temperature of their outdoor pool and their pizza grill. (They heve 3 cafeterias). It is centrally located. we were warned by our KOBO agent not to wander off by ourselves too far. Did go for a day walk on our own 2 blocks around the corner to the Nakumatt where we found a supermarket and 2 ATMs. We were careful not wear watches or jewelry but felt safe. The Nairobi Safari Club only has suites, thus the rooms are spacious and quite elegant. The bathrooms however need a major facelift (at least the one we had). It was very clean and spacious but looked rundown.

Next to the pool, they have a nice health center with modern equipment and staff that are very helpful in setting the equipment and workout for you.

The saff in general went out of their way to learn our names over the 2 nights we were there.

Mayfair Court Hotel, Holiday...

Mayfair Court Hotel, Holiday Inn
As at 1/1/99
single room: $150.00
double room: $98.00p.p.
Lunch costs between £2.00 and £5.00 (sorry about the currency switch here) This was the first hotel that I stayed at in Kenya. It was a gentle, even luxurious introduction, to the more 'rigorous' events to follow. The lobby/reception hall is a large light and cool place, immaculately kept. There is wood panelling and period piece decorations giving it a colonial feel. A giant bowler-hatted waiter called Patric with a voice like Frank Bruno greeted us. The place has a comfortable but opulent feel.
The swimming pool is fine as are the two dining areas, one alfresco by the pool, and the other now designed as an American diner.
Check out the beautifully lit ponds at night and the deafening frog chorus!
During my last visit in 1999 the hotel rooms had been upgraded and were exceptionally good wanting for nothing. Apart from the Nairobi Safari Club this is this is the most luxurious hotel room that I've stayed at in Kenya.
