Our partners in SA were having a business conference in Nairobi and needed a hotel with good conference facilities. we easily to booked them into Serena using goingsafari.com, however we had to book the conference facility on phone and confirm once they got there.
Unique Quality: easy proximity from CBD yet very secluded.
The Nairobi Serena is a top quality hotel and our stay was excellant. The staff were polite and attentive and the service was excellant at all times. We had an afternoon snack, an evening meal, breakfast and lunch as we drove back through Nairobi half way through our safari, all were top quality and well served. The rooms were comfortable and the grounds well maintained, look out for the frogs in the pond and there are plenty of interesting birds around too.
Unique Quality: Grounds and pool area
A most luxurious hotel. Everything about it was perfect from the pool at 7.30 am to the buffet breakfast, the gardens...everything.
Unique Quality: Views were over one of the main roads and parks. I even watched an Indian parade which was so colourful.
This is a phenomenal hotel. The decor, rooms, service, everything is impecible. Make sure to have the breakfast in Café Maghreb. Absolutely the place to stay in Nairobi.
Unique Quality: Very nice hotel, great rooms, 3 restaurants, swimming pool, pool bar.

We found the hotel ideal for our stop over once we had arrived in Nairobi, before embarking on our Safari. It was relaxing, clean, air condiitioned, tv and minibar. There is a pool that is heaven after a long flight into Kenya, with pool service for lunches and drinks. Set in lush gardens, this gives the feel of being away from it all although in fact you are fairly near the centre of the bustling town.
Arrived at Nairobi Serena after a sleepless overnight flight from London Heathrow and traveling in from Jomo Kenyatta Airport. But walking into the lobby you soon realise that this is a nice hotel.
Despite the rooms not being ready for 10am, they were available by 10.30 and after a quick visit to the room to freshen up I went to reception to get a taxi and one of the hotel vehicles took me to my destination (Nairobi Snake Park) and agreed to pick me up an hour later.
The food in the hotel was first class and the rooms were nicely spacious and well equipped.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone, and found this the best of the hotels I stayed in in Nairobi.
FYI
the internet bookng system requires the hotel to come back to you. After running thru the booking system, selecting the room, the price etc., a message comes back that some one from the hotel will confirm details by email. 8 hours late I was informed that the room wasn't available and that I should try again......
PASS!
The Serena is a world-class luxury hotel with local flavors. Everything is beautiful here, and you can spent the whole day on the premises (what my wife did when I attended business meetings).
Location: At the edge of downtown, yet In walking distance.
Rooms: We had a standard double room which had all western amenities, but tasteful African design.
Public areas: The hotel has lush tropical gardens and a huge outdoor swimming pool (with a nice pool bar). The up-to-date fitness center is also frequented by high-class locals. A gem is the outdoor bar. Next to the bar there is an artificial tropical jungle, full of colorful frogs making chirping sounds at night. Very atmospheric!
Dining: Food is, typically for Kenia, English with local products. Do not expect French gourmet cooking, but well-made game dishes like antelope, zebra etc. At the pool, dining is a little more innovative. We had a wonderful carpaccio of a tropical fish. At home, everybody was upset that we had eaten raw fish in Africa, but we stayed healthy all the five days we spent at the Serena.
Service: Service was excellent. My experience was, if you express a little friendliness to the African staff, they will do everything for you.
We arrived a day before our safari and stayed at this hotel. It was wonderful. The grounds were lovely and the staff very helpful. We need a driver to see somethings in and around Nairobi and they found us one we really enjoyed. Had one meal in their nice restaurant and it was very enjoyable.
hi...
i'll be travelling to nairobi this month on business. i wanna stay close to the market/business area, and was recommended the 680 hotel. is it good? can you suggest any other good hotel nearby (4 star), if not this.
thanks a lot...
Welcome to kenya.
Depending on your budget and the proximity to the areas you are interested in i recommend The stanley Hotel goes for US$120 or thereabout,The Nairobi Serena Hotel for US$170.
Murua
I always stay at the 680. Good clean rooms and very central. Make sure you get a double bed and ask for a room overlooking Kenyatta Ave.
The 2nd best option is Kenya Comfort. It's not as central tho.

Very nice hotel, great rooms, 3 restaurants, swimming pool, pool bar.
