African Safari Club
Mt Kenya Safari Club is about a 3 hour drive north of Nairobi just outside Nanuyki. Originally built in 1938 it was purchased by William Holden in 1959, and now owned by the Fairmont Group who also own the famous Norfolk & Stanley Hotels in Nairobi, The Mt Kenya Safari Club is very much a quality lodging with its location near the foothills of Mount Kenya Africa's second highest mountain. There are 114 standard and superior guestrooms with fireplaces and en-suite bathroom. The Restaurant serves a buffet breakfast, buffet lunch and 9-course dinner.
With prices exceeding $600 per night in the high season for a room, it is not cheap, but an increadible experience with its 100 acres of landscaped gardens and small lakes filled with many variety of birds including multi coloured and white peacocks strutting around the grounds
