Lancers Inn is said to be the International Development Specialist's hotel of choice in Maseru. This may be true, but only due to limited other options. Lancers Inn is a garden-type motel, secured within the same compound as the Dutch Embassy. The hotel is centrally located, and, that is perhaps the only good point of this place. Many rooms don't have showers and don't have proper AC or heating.
Though the rooms are large and clean, and the internet good (wireless, but it works!), the service is absolutely terrible and the restaurant/bar is pathetic and overpriced. I know this may sound like a review written by a disgruntled guest, but I can say that I do not have an axe to grind, but I will never stay here again.
Unique Quality: The grounds of the hotel are set within a decently well-kept garden. There are some unique villas on the grounds and a decent breakfast is included in the room rental.
Directions: Downtown, across the street from Standard Bank
Best choice in Maseru - central location, wifi (paid), rooms OK, bar and restaurant, rude receptionists (well it is Lesotho). Very hot water. Great bakery next door.
Unique Quality: Rooms in the main building, and also some bungalows at the back. Limited availability at peak times. Have to book by phone, no website.
