Unfamiliar named hotels and guest houses.: Where to stay?
I stayed with friends so I can not give a specific recommendation, but I did see a surprising number of places labeled as hotels or guest houses. There were many more places than I saw on the internet. The places listed on the internet are relatively costly but may come closer to providing you the services you might expect as a tourist. The other places were scattered around and just walking and searching for a place to stay might be problematic. I did not go inside any asking about a room. To give you an idea of the minimal cost i can relate that I heard that a stay at the Methodist Mission Guest House (not exactly a place open to tourists) was about $30 (USD). (It is often full.) I am sure you can find a place to stay, but expect to pay a lot compared to the quality of the lodging. The primary clients for these rooms are probably aide workers or representatives or NGOs or international aide programs.

No hotel: No hotel in Ganta
There was no functioning hotel in the town of Ganta, because of the civil war that had been going on in the years before our visit. We stayed in a house of the Lutheran community. They were extremely welcoming
