The outside of the building is reasonable pleasant, albeit plain Art Deco style. The reception is shabby, with leather seats that look well beyond their sell by date. There is no lift, or at least not one that works.
The rooms are - well how can I put this politely? - rather run down. We were staying in a duplex room - two rooms joined by a common bathroom, although there was no-one else sharing with us.
The beds have bits of metal sticking out of the mattress (there is nothing between the mattress and the sheet), and a pillow made from lumps of foam. The bedside light doesn't work.
It was absolutely freezing in the room , but there was a fire. There was no plug on it, it was just wired into the socket, with the metal parts of the wire exposed. Hmmmmmm.
I was jolly glad we were only spending one night in this place!
As the Lonely Planet states: " a place to be avoided until they get their act together"
