La Corniche: The Cheapest in Majunga

Had 5 nights stay there September 2012
The Owner Xavier the funniest and friendliest you can ever find although most of the time you will find him drunked and talkative non stop even if you do not understand french (like me)

I left my luggage there and went to Ambanja for few days, on my return all the rooms were occupied and he offered me sleep in his house or rest a while as I was tired, so kind of him but I moved to Villa Mena (no wifi signals in the bunglow) and then to Hotel Akbar later.

3 Simple Old Furnished Fan Rooms attached Bath Hote Water and a TV with Limited Chanels and One So Called Suite with Kitchen

Quite far from the town center but easy access by Taxi Be (300 Ar/1500 Franc) or Taxi (3000 Ar/15000 Franc) and very good speed wifi in room, a bar, bar be que in the evening and mini zoo (a pair of truttle, a parrot named Buddy and a ever hungry dog)

The Satff is helpfull and the owner Xavier is hoispitable, you can have morning coffee in his kitchen

40,000 Ar per Night (USD1= MGA 2,200.00)

LA CORNICHE: mahajanga's interesting experience

The place is owned by a nice young french gentleman, Mr. Xavier, who seemed very hospitable at first, but i wondered why there were mo people in that nice place except myself, his family (himself and his wife) .... till he started to get drunk at 4pm (too early).
At that point, he started yelling and screaming at his poor staff, and accusing them that they were thieves, throwing out all kinds of accusations.
Things took a very bad turn, when he decided to be entertained by music. Raising the volume to unacceptable levels, i tried to restrain myself till 9 PM, after which i asked him to shut it down or wear a head phone.
his drunk state had deteriorated since i had talked to him last, so i was surprised when i was faced by him, lifting a stick and coming towards me with it, accusing me with a ton of swear words and started to hit a near by tree with that stick which turned to small pieces, while still continues to swear at me.

The time is now 12 am at night, afraid to lay down in the bed, because he is still outside my room yelling and shouting, with the music loud as ever, hoping that the light will come soon so i can leave.

in comparison with othe comparative places in the city, the rooms are run down. i did not get a towel or soap till i had to ask for them. the towel had bird droppings on it and the soap was actually half a soap, cut by a knife to save on expenses.
