Hotel Miramar: Fort Dauphins "home away from home"

by daleduscher

I stayed here for a couple months, and enjoyed it. The service was very good, with a good breakfast, fresh juice every morning and such.
Although when I stayed, power outages were very common, every night, so alot of tasks in room were done by candlelight.
Laundry service was prompt, but expect a different level of cleansliness as the clothes are washed by hand.
The room was made up every day, the front desk was very helpful, and although there are a few nicer motels in town, I would say here again.

The motel is close to the ocean, you can fall asleep to the sounds of the waves against the shore, and the cool ocean breezes. Its a very simple layout, with a courtyard in the middle, making it a nice place to " come home to". Its location is great for walking to the ocean, it is alittle far from the town center, but if you like to walk, its not bad.

SAKAMANGA: SUPER COOL

by DAO

For the price, Sakamanga is the best hotel in Antananarivo. It has a lovely shaded courtyard and all the rooms look into it. The beds are comfortable, the ceiling fans work wonders in the heat and the bathrooms are both decorative and very useful. I loved this place. It also has a great looking restaurant and room service. Every room and corridor is decorated with all sorts of artefacts from the history of Madagascar. This place is amazingly charming. A must stay.

They offer a price range of rooms and I would highly advise reservations before you arrive. I tried to book a second stay 4 days ahead and found they were fully booked. Also, because they have a price range, the cheaper rooms go quickly

The best decorated hotel in the city. Also it has a great location, comfortable beds and individual themed rooms. All rooms look out into the beautiful gardens. They also have a well recommended restaurant.

Hotel Du Louvre: The worst...ever

by FelipeVilches

Have been traveling for the past 12 years, all over Africa, Asia, Latin and South America. This is by far the worse hotel I have ever been in. Mold in the shower, rooms that are the size of a small box...and a staff that does not Care...! not to say expensive...

Stay away if you can, or like me, you will be sorry!!!

None..!!!

Le Paradisier: On the beach in Ifaty

by bumpychick

Le Paradisier is a lovely hotel on a beautiful stretch of beach in Ifaty. It is a real challenge to reach the hotel, so you may want to spend at least 3 nights here to make it worth the trip.
The hotel consists of a main reception and restaurant area, and a number of 2 story bungalows spread out along the beach. It is quite a walk if you are in one of those furthest from the main building, but the compensation is wonderful peace and quiet.

Each bungalow is 'semi-detached' and has a bedroom upstairs with windows on all 4 aspects. They provide wonderful views of the sea and are very private and romantic. The downstairs room has a sitting area, and an open plan bathroom with shower. This area is rather dark in comparison, but still very pleasant. Each bungalow also has direct access to the beach down a small slope and a pair of sunbeds on which to soak up the rays!
The only negative point in this hotel was the food in the restaurant which wasn't of great quality in comparison to everything else the hotel had to offer.

Relais de la Reine: Hopefully on the mend!

by bumpychick

We were really looking forward to our stay at this hotel, and the rooms certainly didn't disappoint. Unfortunately when we arrived (mid August 2007) we were dismayed to find that the hotel's main reception area and restaurant had burnt down! The hotel was still open for business however, as all the rooms are in separate blocks and some distance from the main building. We were able to eat our meals in the sister hotel next door, Jardin du Roy, which was newer and probably even more luxurious than the Relais de la Reine. It was a 5-10 minute walk from our room to the other hotel restaurant, through beautiful grounds; so no hardship at all really.
The management informed us that the hotel would be rebuilt within 3 months, and had already started to work on the building. At the speed they were progressing, I would be suprised if it is finished within 3 years!

All the buildings are made of stone, and are furnished in a natural style with very attractive decor and finishing touches. The rooms were quite cold at night due to the climate in this area during the Winter months. The change in temperature caused the metal roof to expand and contract which caused some alarming noises in the middle of the night, making us feel a bit anxious until we worked out what was happening!

Zomatel: One of the best options in Fianarantsoa

by bumpychick

This hotel is of a reasonable standard, but one of the best in Fianarantsoa. The rooms are quite well appointed, although I would describe the decor as 'plasticy'. Our room was on the corner of the first floor overlooking the street and hotel entrance; which was a bit noisey but did provide an opportunity to watch the world go by. There was no plug in the bath, but that was easily remedied by a visit to reception.
The hotel restaurant served very nice food, with local specialities. The local wine is also very good.

Amarina Hotel Madagascar: Madgascar best beach hotel

by bolelo11

This hotes setting on the North West coast of Nosy Be, facing the lagoon of Ambohidahy, the Amarina Hotel has been naturally designed and preserve the gentle way of life of Nosy Be. 900 m long beach, Amarina hotel is the only four stars international standard on the perfumed island . I like the traditional combine with modern facility on the hotel it's was very comfortable place to spend your day.

The unique things about this hotes was the Swimming Pool & the Jacuzzi Facing the Sea
the swimming pool has been created for kids and for adults : two separated pools : a deep one and one for the kids. The large pool is 1.50m. depth. it very nice to swimming at the evening and at the mid day.
The Amarina also offers accommodation in two duplex senior suites, with separate sitting room; eight vast junior suites occupying the entire top floor of the bungalow; a family suite; and a superior room with wheelchair access

Ifaty Beach Club: Ifaty

by OneFryGuy

Great bungalows that were clean, quaint, and right on the ocean front. The only issue to be aware of was power in the hotel is only generated from 6PM to 9PM each night. No warm water any other time and no power for lights or room fan.
