Chez Baba: Djennes best backpackers hotel
Airy, spacious rooms on the first floor with mattresses on the ground.
You won't necessarily be alone. We had a roommate without knowing beforehand.
No fan, no mosquitoes nets
You can also sleep on the roof for the same price
Showers and toilets are downstairs and very clean
2500 CFA per person
Big Castels for 850 CFA

Hotel Kita-Kourou: Djennes worst
Well, this should be one of the worst rooms in my whole travel career.
We had a very small room (2 metres by three) where our head or our feet (choose for yourselves) touched the walls.
There was a standing fan who made a lot of noise but couldn't cool off the room. I didn't see a window...
Our room was next to the courtyard where mice enjoyed themselves
Shower and toilet smelled like hell and were on the roof where a TV-satellite made noise till the early hours
2500 CFA per person.
They didn't even have great Castels. What a shame

Résidence Tapama: The best address for the night...
The “Résidence Tapama” is a good place to rest after the market’s hurly-burly…
The hotel (also restaurant) is managed by a very kind and efficient woman, Anta.
She always prepares more food than useful for her customers. At the evening, you can see some twenty children quietly waiting at the door with their little bowls. After dinner, Anta spares the remaining food between them.
The hotel is basic but perfectly clean.
Large simple rooms with fan and basic bathroom: 15000CFA (22€) for 2 persons.
Pleasant terrace to watch the sun setting down on the old city.
Nice shady yard where you can rest, have a drink and dinner.
Very good food (local): 2500 CFA (less than 4€).
Here, you can eat raw vegetables (excellent salads): Anta takes care of the way they are cleaned.

Camp at the riverside
The night before our visit to Djenne we camped at the Bani River, just at the crossing place.
So it was very easy to take a piroque very early in the morning the next day, to be in time in Djenne.
