Hôtel Doux Rèves by F_Meignant The hotel belongs to an association who takes care of unmarried mothers. Cheep and really nice atmosphere. Good simple food.
Very friendly place, where are sometimes organized small concerts, dance shows, theatre plays, exhibitions… Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Quartier Taïkiri Nord, BP 32. MoptiPhone: 2 430 490Directions: Close to the new stadium.

Kanaga hotel by F_Meignant The most expensive hotel in Mopti. Big modern “occidental” hotel. Good bedrooms with bathroom, toilets and TV (sometimes working!). A good place for a few days after a long trek in the Dogon country or in the desert. Recover and then, go to the “Doux Rèves” and its more local atmosphere…
Visa cards welcome. Swimming pool. Restaurant correct but much too expensive in comparison of what you can find in the city… Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: most expensiveAddress: Avenue de l'Indépendance, BP 224, MoptiPhone: (223) 430 500Directions: Along the Bani River downstream from the city center, after the hospital.Website: e-mail: kanaga@bambara.com Other Contact: Fax: (223) 430 026

Phone from the tourist camp. by F_Meignant Rooms are clean but a bit dark and sad… Basic equipment. Good food. Very cheep.
Good place for quiet beer and dinner in the evening. One difficult thing in Mopti is when you want to call your family by phone: there are many private phone boxes in the city but they are too noisy, don't work very well and are sometimes too expensive. You will find a good one on the camp premises (see pic). The lady is very friendly and helpful. Also a rather efficient "Internet-café" in the Camp. Theme: HostelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: least expensivePhone: 43 00 32Directions: The Tourist Camp is at the entrance of the city when coming from Sévaré airport. On the right after the bus/road/bush taxis station.

A clean and mostly modern (a small tv in room and an air-conditioner that works) hotel just a few yards from the banks of the Niger River. A thoroughly pleasant atmosphere, especially after having braved the rather rustic and spartan accomodations offered in Tombouctou or the Dogon country. There is a restaurant and bar on site. Neither will redefine the art of gastronomic adventure travel, but believe me, they are most welcome after a few days in the back country.
A clean swimming pool is an attractive late afternoon activity after beating the dusty trails to Djenne and back. Artifact vendors crowd the streets just off hotel property. These guys were aggressive, but pretty fair. I was not looking to weigh myself down with African trinkets, but I did want a carved hippopotomus. And I was able to secure a nice hefty hippo for $20. Bargained down from a starting price of $50.

Returning from Timbuktu we stoped in Mopti on our way to Dagoon Country. Using the Lonely P. West Africa guide we arrived here first. The LP description was right on but there were no guests so we decided to check out the other 2 top picks. Needless to say the LP descriptions were way off so we returned to this Motel. IT WAS EXCELENT. The current operator is a French Hotel PRO that has been and worked ALL over Africa. He runs the place like a swiss watch. The place is beautiful. It has a great bar, pool, lobby and restaurant. The room we stayed in was great. AC, TV, and a great roomy shower. (you need this after Timbuktu) The service and attention were above and beyond. There was internet in the office. The guy who runs the place is extremely knowledgable not only about the region but about ALL of Africa. This is a big plus when traveling to unknown areas.
It has a great Bar, Pool and restaurant. I would rate the Managers knowledge as a VERY IMPORTANT atribute that you will find that it helps you. I stayed in this hotel a few times as I travel a lot in Mali. It is the best hotel I stayed in . Above all it is the most clean hotel I know. Even the street where the hotel is situated is cleaned every day. All the rooms have modern confort, including hot water. The hotel has a generator for electric problems. Wifi is available and internet use is free for the customers. A great restaurant, a nice terrace, fine personnel . I would definetely recommend this place .The manager is a Malian ex Dogon guide who knows the country well.
The beautiful swimming pool is great and the place is very quiet. Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Banguétaba, Rue 69 SévaréPhone: 00223 21420829Directions: Coming from Bamako, after the airport turn leftWebsite: www.hotelflandre.com

Stayed here twice during my stay in Mopti. The French owner is great. He does not speak a whole lot of English but enough. The rooms were clean and all had nets. The rooms with the A/C were well sealed so the rooms stayed comfortable.
There is a nice bar/restaurant with decent food and a nice view. Since it is open air you can sample some local protein with your food on some nights due to the flying creatures..welcome to Africa (this was par for the course and not a problem for me). This place is well known by the guides so if you need a ride up the Niger or anywhere else this would be the place to set it up
