Downtown Marriott: Nouadhibou's best hotel
I stayed in the Marriott downtown. It was wonderful. Each room had its own bathroom. You could choose betwen 1 king or two queens. The bedding was clean and the staff was more than helpful. It ended up costing me about 7 Euros for a night, which is a bit steep in Nouadhibou (could stay other places for about 3 Euros), but considering the quality of the Exercise Room, it was worth it. There are two swimming pools. The kids really loved the pools. One pool has a big waterslide, and the other pool had a cool free form design with a waterfall.
I definately recommend the Marriott and will suggest it to all my friends when they come holiday in Nouadhibou.
Unique Quality: I gave the bell boy a 2 Euro tip and the entire hotel staff was at my beck and call for the two weeks that I stayed there.

Asimex Camping: Asimex Camping
I stayed one night. You can camp inside walls but rooms are also available for 1000UM/person.
Shared bathroom.
Its not a very big place but it will suit your needs.
Unique Quality: Its located on the Numerowat area near the Aeroport and close to district of people with a lot of money here in Nouadhibou.

I did not stay there. Just for your information.
Unique Quality: double or triple rooms around a comfortable and sociable lounge area. Secure parcking and atmosphere amongst overlanders outweight often overstretched facilities and only occasional hot water. Home-cooked Senegalese food prepared on request. Camping possible in guarded compound at the rear. Rooms around 1500UM/person, camping around 500UM car/tent.

Auberge Restaurant Le Chinguetti: Le Chinguetti
Nice atmosphere, staff is very cheerful. They love to talk.
This 2 year old hotel is run by French and a Mauritanian which makes your need as a westerner much easier due to both cultures working together. For what I got, security is very important and could be difficult that someone could get in the hotel and steel something or some of your belongings. Although like the owner Fabrice said ...never too much should the attention of your belongings and you never leave your stuff alone...?
The hotel is not responsible for any stolen material and nights should be paid on advanced, no credit.
Unique Quality: Nothing outstanding but very proper bathrooms and overall conditions are very good for what I’ve seen in Mauritania and morocco also.
Inside the hotel exists this somehow tasteful restaurant.
Bed from 1200 UM (less then 5 euros) plus 200Um for tourist tax.
