Palm Beach Café is a friendly and laid back café located next to the public beach at Pereybere, just a couple of kilometres north of Grand Baie. I stopped off there for refreshments one afternoon during a visit to Mauritius in February 2008.

There are a few tables inside the café, but I preferred to sit outdoors in the pleasant seating area, beneath the shade of a large tree, with wonderful sea views.

The menu features a selection of salads, sandwiches, omelettes, sweet and savoury pancakes, ice creams and a selection of hot and cold, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. It is the ideal place for a light lunch when spending a day on the popular adjacent beach. I opted for:

Crepes des Iles - Cost: 140 Rupees / 2.60 GBP

A couple of pancakes, drowned in rum and passion fruit juice (but mainly rum!) and topped with sultanas, currants and ground coconut. Very tasty!

500ml bottle of Sprite - Cost: 40 Rupees / 0.75 GBP

No ice, but served straight from an ice cold fridge freezer. Many places charge the same price for a 330ml bottle…but here you get a 500ml bottle!

A friendly, laid back café…right by the beach at Pereybere. Recommended!

Pereybere Beach is a wonderful swimming beach in the North of Mauritius.

"More About Pereybere"

In the Pereybere beach area you can find many restaurants, a money changer, a shop selling foodstuff , travel agency, a phone booth, some shops to buy gifts etc, and a bit along the road to the east you will find a chemist, also along road to east you will find stalls that sell fresh veg.

"ALL YOU NEED IS HERE"

Most of the things you may need you can find here, the beach is on bus route, you can take this bus to Grand Baie, or Port Louis, ( if you travel west) and(if you travel east) you can take st Antoine bus to the goodlands market ( market day is fridays)please just make sure you ask bus driver on way back if bus goes to Perrybere beach, cause some travel inland, to get bus back from goodlands the bus stop you will find opp KENTUCKY chicken ,

"Night swimming"

We often even swim at night on this beach at warm times of year, water lovely and warm, very romantic setting

"Trips"

There is a guy on this beach called Patric , he goes out with glass bottom boat, or 2 snorkel, and sometimes he does a most delicious BBQ on an island on east coast called ile Ambre, ask for him if you would like do one of these trips, to ile Ambre he only goes if he can find enough ppl to do the trip..

"Chairs and Umbrella"

Usually there are guys who rent out chairs and umbrella for the day on this beach..so you can actually just relax and enjoy the day..

"Good Location in Mauritius"

This is a good location in Mauritius especially for the budget traveller, Many places to stay around here that are budget, or not so expensive, a small basic hotel on the beach, nice clean water to swim in, fairly safe swimming , taxi always available here.
