Very friendly place close to the airport! The staff is extremly helpful.
Rooms are basic, but have fan and ensuite bathroom and balcony. A continental breakfast is included in the price.
You'll must certainly will get a discount if you stay for more than one night.
Les Aigrettes is the hotel where I stayed the first three days on Mauritius. I had to book a hotel at the airport reservation desk (they wouldn't let me into the country without proof of accommodation) and I was quite satisfied with it.
The building itself looks a bit patched up, but rooms are nice and quite large. All rooms have balcony (somehow they forgot to clean that one though) with seaview and aircon.
A continental breakfast is included in the price.
The friendly owners rent out cars aswell.
The brochure advertises a pool and jacuzzi, but they didn't have water in them...
I stayed at the Aquarella on my last day on Mauritius. It's a very charming place right on the water's edge.
The rooms are nice with fan and ensuite bathroom, but the best thing of my rooms was the balcony. Could have stayed there for ages and watched the fishermen at work.
Price includes a continental breakfast.
The owners rent out cars and can arrange all other kinds of transportation.
I spent two vacations in Mauritius, and both the times I have passed some days in this mervellouse villa on the coast between Mahebourg and Blue Bay, Point d'Esny. The house is of one indian woman, married with an English man, she don't need money, but it loves to surround itself of foreigner, in order to feel itself less isolated. She fell english, not mauritian or indian!
First time I was alone, in a big room, with private bathroom, the second I was with my partner and we had a little loft, seewiew, with kitchen, dining space and sofa, with a big balcony.
Now Misses Indra update the villa, she have a website, so u can see the place, it's named on LONELY PLANET...so it's easy to find it full...don't worry there are other villa like at the next door!
Great view from your window, a beautifull garden, a desert beach for you,....this is a place where there are only private villa and there are few beach access, so there are someone only during the week end, Port louis citizens. There's no big hotel near it, so only relaxation.
I rented one of two apartments from Mr. Aufray, next to the Notre Dame church. The apartments were comfortable enough, though perhaps for older people the beds are a bit basic. Mr.Aufray is quite a character. He is very nice in a way, but definitely in a way.
Funny thing, for example, is the address of the place; Rue Auffray. This is indeed the official name for the street as it appears on the street sign, although no one in Mahebourg will understand you when you use it. Commonly known as Rue Notre Dame, Mr. Auffray apparently has managed to convince some town clerk to have the street named after him. He did not manage to convince the rest of the town though.
The garden is beautiful, with all kinds of flowers and fruits and spices in them, which are free to use if you stay there.
