Le canonnier hotel

Hello,
I am planning to get married at this hotel in october 2006. Iwas wondering if anyone has stayed at this hotel.

We haven't stayed at Le CAnonnier but just next to it at the beach bungalows. It is a lovely hotel. We walked around there a lot. The beach and beach area at Point Canonnier is to me nicer than in Grand Baie. It's 5 min away from Grand Baie by bus or taxi. Grand Baie is nice for shopping. Read my note on shopping in Port louis and grand baie on my travel page.

Hi,
we just returned from our holidays in the Canonnier and it was fantastic, though there are still some refurbishment works going on (which should be finished when you plan to go there). The rooms are all new (bath and furniture), but - compared to other hotels - not so big. They all have a terrace or a balcony. We had an ocean view room which was good as the rooms with pool view got all the music from the bar and the shows. Food was fantastic, too. At the Frangipanier you get buffet and the Navigator restaurant only offers a la carte menues or a half board menue, but is quite romantic as it has got sea view as well and is not crowded at all as one has to reserve. The staff was gread and very nice (343 employees for 240 rooms...) All inclusive is not necessary as the breakfast buffet and dinner is quite enough. Cocktails are around 200 rupees, i. e. around 5,50 €, beer, coffee and softdrinks from 50 to 65 rupees (1,40 - 2 €) (although those are included in all incl. but only at the bar and NOT in the romantic Navigator restaurant - but there was a management cocktail evening once per week where concktails were also provided free of charge!) They had live music and shows on 6 days.
Sports were good - a lot of watersports (snorkeling, glass bottom boat, pedal boad, sailing, water ski) and stuff like aquagym and archery, yoga, stretching etc. free of charge.
There was a supermarket close by where we bought water and crisps, etc.
We went to Grand Baie by bus (20 rupees return), which took about 10 minutes.
We would definitely go back to this wonderful and luxurious hotel!

I can't tell you what it would cost but it shouldn't be very much, they are relatively close to each other. I can tell you that a taxi you pick up right at the hotel entrance will be more expensive that one you might get in town. So you might want to make prior arrangements with a taxi in town.
Both hotels are Beachcomber properties, have you inquired about a shuttle being available?
Restaurant for wedding receptions

Hi :)
Newbie here and this is my first post so please be gentle :)
We are getting married in Mauritius in May 2006 and we are looking for a restaurant to hold our wedding meal, there will be 11 in total (flying in from around the world). We would preferably like seafood but it has to be good quality. We are not looking to spend a fortune, approx $100 per head would be good (including beverages).
Does anyone have any recomendations at all? Webpages would be good to view also :)

I sld add that we are staying at the Oberoi Hotel but most of our relatives are staying at Le Cannonier so any good restaurants near these areas would be great :)
