More about ClubHotel Riu Tikida Dunas
I would recommend this hotel to anyone, if your unsure about going to morocco then stay in a place like this because here there is plenty to do without stepping foot outside the hotel.
the staff will do their best to accomodate your personal needs, if you ask for something 9.5/10 you will get it.
very happy staff aswell.
very clean pool area,
brilliant maid service everyday,
porters to take your luggage too and from your rooms,
the food is lovely,
It has its own private part of the beach. Wonderful Beach front location. outstanding Staff and daytime entertainment, you can go on a tour of the hotel and see all the things that go on behind the scenes for example the kitchens.
We have just returned from a week at the Riu Tikida Dunas. We were a little apprehensive as we have never been on an all inclusive holiday, from the minute we arrived any fears we had dissappeared. The hotel is gorgeous and always beautifully clean, the food is good with lots of choice and a visit to the two specialitly restaurants is recommended. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We have nothing negative to say about a stay here and would recommend it, we cannot wait to go back.
Lovely and helpful staff
We went to Morocco and Tikida Dunas for a study tour, before we will go there with a group of our clients in april. What I really want to admire is the hotel staff started from the managing director to the animation team. There is a lovely garden and pool area. They really work hard on keeping rooms clean and fresh (air):). There is only one little thing we didn't like. We couldn't discover the difference between the dishes served in tipical algerian restaurant and those served in the main restaurant. :). Maybe we expected to much for AI service?
Anyway we recommend strongly this place to anyone who wants to find a lovely place in this beautiful country.
fantastic best hotel and location in agadir
just came back after spending a lovely week at the tikida dunas,
the staff as mentioned earleir in other reviews are fantastic and extremely freindly and helpful,
there was absolutely no hastle from locals in both the resort, beach and markets. everyone was very nice and battering for a rug and other souveneirs was a fun day out.
just up the road from the hotel is the sofitel agadir that has the resorts best night club. they have live music on and r n' b dance music. it was very modern and we enjoyed several great nights out clubbing with the hotel staff from the tikida that even got us in free :-). many thanks.
in summary if you want to go to morocco do not look at any other hotel, the hotel is far beyond any other 4* in agadir.
what a great week away
having just returned from Agadir, I wanted to post my thoughts on the Tikida Dunas. Having read all the other reviews i had high expectations, and i was not dissapointed! what a GREAT hotel....from the moment you arrive until leaving, you are made to feel very special and respected. Every member of staff says hello and makes a huge effort 24/7. the design of the accomodation buildings is really great.sympathetic low rise, perfectly maintained. offering great views either of the sea ( like i had) or of the oasis style gardens. i dont think there is a duff room here. the Hotel is so well orgainsed, it really is a well oiled machine, faultless dining, foods cooked to perfection. served by smiling chefs in full whites. dirty plates removed fast with without fuss.
onto the pool areas, huge free form pools surrounded by greenery and lovely patios is what you see here, not regimented lines of sunloungers. the water in January is for the brave, but there is a heated indoor pool too! the small paths that lead you around the complex are clean, well lit and sometimes patroled by the hotel cats, all of a friendly nature.
one of my favourite things about the hotel is the personal service of the barmen. hello to Amor, he made some great cocktails and made the evenings fun. there is plenty of comfy seating around the bars and reception, or there is the evening entertainment that is in a seperate room , so you have the choce of busy or quiet times. perfect.
the rooms are large! with great storage and a free safe box. the bathrooms have hot powerful showers and are of good size. the room are cleaned daily to a very high standard.
i felt that i wanted to tip the bar staff and cleaner, but this is just my opinion as i felt they worked really hard and made my stay better. i know this was appreciated.
i would rate this hotel as easily 4* and on the upper ranks of this rating. i really cant fault this place at all. i would tell anybody to go here, relax or go to the souk! one extreme to the other. many thanks to all the staff.... PEOPLE, GO TO THE TIKIDA DUNAS!
A great family holiday
Here's another excellent review for the RIU chain of hotels. We checked out the tripadvisor website before we booked and were confident of a great holiday. The Tikida Dunas is exactly as people mention.
We enjoyed the complex because of the activities, all round cleanliness, food and attention to detail. Our eldest son turned 14 whilst away and the staff arranged for our table to be covered in red rose petals in the shape of the England flag and within the flag was written Happy new year - which is their way of saying Happy Birthday. The waiters all came over and sang happy birthday in French and English and presented our son with a Birthday cake and we all got a glass of Champagne. Our son was thrilled (and slightly embarassed as a teenager would be!)
The food was excellent and the fact you can see the chefs cooking the meals is a big bonus! There was always a great selection and the staff were always smiling and friendly.
The activities for young and old alike were as described and our eldest son was happy that he felt involved from day one. He wanted me to give particular thanks to Adil who was a fantastic member of the team and made him feel very welcome. We never saw much of him as he was always off playing sport and meeting new friends of all nationalities.
Our youngest son who is nearly 3 also loved the place. He particularly enjoyed the kiddies disco - which if I'm going to be critical - could have been a bit longer. It was only on from 8.00 til 8.30pm. We thought an hour would have been better! But it is only a mild criticism.
The play area was fine with the usual climbing frame, swings, see saw and plenty of sand to build sandcastles (if you didn't fancy venturing to the nearby beach). The baby pool was heated which was great as the main ones aren't - and they are freezing!!
But there is an indoor heated pool which is some consolation.
I think the Kids Club reps did a great job considering the various Nationalities and the amount of people taking advantage of the facility!
It was a great place to relax and unwind - the weather was excellent. Our eldest son thought it was the best holiday he has had so far. The Riu chain do seem to be raising the standard, as it was hard to fault.
(From a personal point of view - we didn't rate Agadir Centre much. It does get a bit annoying, vendors coming up to you all the time and pestering you to buy. The shops aren't much better - as once you're in, shop owners try and get you to buy anything and everything and they don't stop trying until you get quite forceful with them. The beach was also awash with vendors the nearer Agadir Centre you were. However, once you ventured back towards the complex they were fairly few and far between.)
Just returned from a 2 week break over Christmas and New Year. What a wonderful hotel. the rooms are spotlessly clean and spacious. The gardens are clean and very well kept.
Many thanks to the wonderful Barmen, Amor, Said, Dris and Fatima (Lovely Jubbly) Mohamed and Larbi who greeted us on our first afternoon with a wonderful smile.
Having read some negative comments about this hotel we feel we need to set the record straight.
We cannot understand people that complained about the staff - we found them very helpful. Maybe if customers made the effort to sometimes be polite and smile the would get a more positive response. Its nice to be nice.
Yes, it is predominantly French. It is in Morocco for goodness sake. That is one of their main languages.
Children - we did not find them to be a problem. (Anybody complaining should have booked an adults only hotel, maybe they should research their holidays better before booking).
While we were there, the food was hot, wonderful and plentiful and there was enough choice to satify everybody. The most praise goes to our lovely waiter Aniss. Everytime we got to our table at dinner time he always had a lovely welcoming smile, a glass of water ready and always remembered which wine we both preferred.
The Animation team - they were really good. We did not get involved with the activities during the day, but we were told by lots of people that we met (special hi to Clary and Mo- Lovely!) that they were really good and we did go into the Founty Bar some evenings (when we could drag ourselves away from the lobby bar) and found the entertainment very accomplished and enthusiastic. They had a really good ability of communicating comedy sketches to a wide variety of nationalities and we all got the jokes. Even the Manager of the hotel got involved in the sketches and sang.
There is one tiny gripe though. We don't smoke. Luckily the restaurant where breakfast and dinner is served is non smoking but everywhere elso can get a bit too smokey. It would be really good if non smokers were more considered and more non smoking areas we set up. Passive smoking is not appreciated.
Fantastic hotel - would recommend to all
I stayed in the Riu Tikidu Dunas in September 2006, I found good reviews on trip advisor and also took advise from the travel agent, and was I pleased I done so....
This hotel was fantastic, the complex overall was breath-taking!!!! The staff were extremely helpful and always happy to chat - the food was unbelievable....
The only fault I could mention is that they do not provide a double bed, its two single beds pushed together. But we made our own solution to that and slept on the balcony :0)
The location was excellent and the private beach was really good!!! I would advise taking a stroll along the beach and having a look at all the other hotel's complexes - makes you realise how great Tikidu Dunas is not only for location, service and rooms, but also for atmoshpere.....
The complex is so large that after a lovely meal you can go for a stroll around the many quiet paths of the hotel, as all are subtley lit!!!
I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Agadir if I return!!!!
Difficult to fault
What can I add to the title - it really was difficult to fault the hotel. The staff were friendly and efficient, nothing seemed too much trouble. Food was was plenitiful, well cooked and varied. The main dining room lacked atmosphere but you are assigned a table which saves having to hunt around for one each time. There are two sittings for dinner, either 6.30 or 8.30 - we were assigned 8.30 which is too late for us but we asked to change to the earlier time - no problem at all. Wine - as much as you can drink is there for the taking as well as self service beer pump. You can also eat in the more traditional Moroccan style restaurant each week at no extra cost. All inclusive really was ALL inclusive, hot drinks and bottled water available anytime you like, as well as the usal spirits, wine, beer, cocktails and softies. In saying that we didn't see anyone being 'excessive' !
Guest rooms were well appointed, but to be honest we could have done with a double bed rather than the two singles pushed together - it's been a while since me and the current Mrs R have slept in a single! The grounds were well laid out and cared for, with some good considerate planting.
The only small niggle is that they could do with a no smoking area in the lounge - nothing like finding yourself a nice spot and then somebody comes and joins you smoking those horrid ciggies - other than that - go for it.
On the practicalities front. You can go to this hotel, take no money, never leave it and have a good time. The local currency (the Dirham) is 'closed' i.e. you can only get it once out in Morocco and you can't take any home with you. Change either sterling or Euro's at the hotel but only a little at a time, I found that most places were happy to take Euro's. Haggle a little of course is expexcted, just don't take the mickey - hey you have more money that most of these people will ever have.
Slightly further afield the town of Agadir is not all that inspiring. Some shops, bars and restuarants, a small wildlife park, a souk (market) seliing this, that and the other. The small taxis are cheap to use, just make sure the driver uses the meter.
If you want any more info please let me know - Phil
Don't tell anyone!
What a wonderful experience. We were slightly apprehensive but decided on the basis of tripadvisor reviews to give it a try. Everything was top notch, food , service, housekeeping, situation, weather..all in all perfect..from the ever present management to all the staff. ........ but please don't tell anyone because they will all want to go!
birdwatchers were here in abundance
English Pub, many screens to watch soccer
homemade food chez Hassan
Corniche of Agadir
hoping to visit in July?August and can't decide between Riu Tikida Beach or Riu Tikida dunas.ot How far out are they location wise. Prefer a hotel which is more adult based.
Re: which hotel
They are of the same hotel chain and located next to the other with direct access to the beach via the newly constructed promenade.
Both have the same high standards but the Beach is more like a normal hotel with indoor corridors whereas the Dunas is more spacious with open format and with larger grounds.
The Dunas is more family oriented than the Beach. I don't think you would go wrong with either hotel.
Restaurants can be found along the beach front just minutes walk along the promenade.
Try tripadvisor if you need to be more informed on this hotel.
ps - July/August will be the hottest months. If you need a map get in touch firstname.lastname@example.org
Re: which hotel
