Hostels and cheap hotels in Taghazout

by zondervan

Does anyone know of any cheap hotels/hostels in Taghazout that they can recommend?
I will be in Taghazout in the first week in March and am having trouble finding anything on the internet.

Any advice appreciated

Taghazout is not yet a tourist destination per say although it is currently being redeveloped and in 2010 there will be a raffles Hotel opening - is this solely due to surfing being a hot topic there I wonder?

Just turn up, ask anyone and you will find a place to stay, sparse I should imagine and cheap but the locals will look after you well.

yes exactly as above - and if you dont then just head back to Agadir as a back up plan. noticed there was a small accomm complex not far from Tagazout when there in October - but I was staying with my friends in Hassania so I did alright! and Taghazout was one of their fav/most frequented beaches. but theres quite a few along the coast there.

Travel Tips for Agadir

Corniche of Agadir

by sachara

At the northwest end of the beach of Agadir is a nice paved area along the beach, the corniche (picture 1, 2 & 3). You can have a stroll or walk here taking the shortest way to the marina and the harbour further northwest along the coast.

Along the corniche are lots of restaurants (picture 4 & 5) with terraces all with view at the ocean. It is popular place for having a drink, a snack or meal, while watching the people coming by, the beach and the ocean. From here you can see a perfect sunset. I saw in summer also a stage on the beach for music performances. On the terraces you will sit at the first rank.

Agadir to Tafraout (through the atlas mountains)

by AnthonyMason

Hire a car and take it for a drive through the anti atlas mountain to Tafraout, it is a lovely drive and you will see some lovely scenery on the way.

Leave Agadir around 10am and you will be at Tafraout for lunch. From Tafraout you can drive onwards to Tiznit, where you will find a lot of silver merchants selling all sorts of silver souvenirs in the market.

This is a lovely day out driving through some beautiful untouched scenery, you will pass through many berber villages and see the real Morocco.

Wild pigs and other wildlife at Souss Massa

by angiebabe

This wonderful nature reserve that is Souss Massa National Park, 65 km south of Agadir, was created in 1991 and extends along the Wadi Massa where the river meets the sea providing a haven of about 1400 hectares in which many bird and animal life live.

Our guide was rattling off names of many creatures that live or can be found here at Souss Massa National Park - unfortunately the names he was using or pronouncing as english needed translating! - eg. he was using the word sects for insects (under the water) which I guessed he was meaning shrimps which when I translated back as crevettes is what he meant.

We could see wild pigs on the opposite river bank - which he called wild hogs - and went on to say that they can be a problem as aggressive.

But as they were thankfully on the other side of the river from us it was great to be able to see them and photograph them!

Noddy Train

by beccyandjohn

Not sure why its called Noddy Train, but for 18 moroccan dirams its definetly worth ago even if its just to see whats around agadir. The journey takes around 1/2 hour and you get to go all over agadir.

Valley of the birds: birds, animals, playground

by sachara

The Birds Valley or Vallée des Oiseaux is not only an aviary, but also a small zoo. This zoo with mouflons, lama's and monkeys is as zoo itself not really a very interesting and exciting 'must see', but the as a whole with the green ambiance and waterfall in the middle of the town makes it enjoyable to walk around for a while.

For families it's a popular place to go, not only because of the birds and animals, but also because of the playground. When I made my walk from the seaside to the citycentre throught the park I saw lots of families and groups of children having fun.

Opening hours of the Valley of the Birds:
daily from 09:30-12:30 and 14:30-18:00.
Entrance fee: 5 dirham for adults and 3 dirham for kids.
