Agadir region best Ecolodge

My stay in Atlas Kasbah was life changing. Berber people are VERY special with a lot of wisdom and much to share with us. It is a trip of a lifetime to stay in these Berber awe inspiring surroundings.
The Berber staff was knowledgeable, wonderful & professional. Every effort is made to have the guests be comfortable.
I found our room charming, well appointed and romantic and the lodge is lovely.
We loved it and would love to go back! I can’t recommend it enough.

Unique Quality: The staff is just great, the pool boasts a spectacular view, rooms are huge, they propose moroccan cooking courses with a very nice Berber woman, the traditional homemade bread warm & delicious is a delight for breakfast.
Everything there is ecological so you feel just so well, the walls are made of earth, the cleaning is made with biological product so there's no harmful chemical going around.

Hi, Yes there are and air conditioned comfort. We travelled from Tangier to Marrakech on 19/08/2004 and back on the sleeper train. You can look at the timetable on www.oncf.ma or look for oncf on your search engine. You may need to change at Sidi Kachem but there are through trains Tangier - Casa and back. Travel first class. The one-way trip Tangier - Marrakech which takes 9 hours (400 miles) cost us £17 each. Take some food with you and water. The trolley comes round twice but only the coffee is realy consumable. Have a good trip. If you need recomended accommodation in Marrakech or the High Atlas I can help. Regards GordonF

Tangier Ville is the station but a long walk from town, take a petit taxi approx 20dh (£1.30). Accommodation in high atlas = Kasbah du Toubkal is near Imlil an awsome setting - right amongs the mountains but only 2hrs from Marrakech by taxi/hire car or take a bus to Asni and get a local taxi. The Kasbah can arrange trecking from half day to 4 days with guide and mules or do what we did - borrow a map and go it alone.
www.discover.ltd.uk and follow links to Kasbah. I'm struggling to find websit for Marrakech accom. I appear to have lost it. We stayed in the Medina/Souk in a refurbished Rhiad - Dar Assoura, Derb Lalla Azzouna 6, off Rue Issebutyne, Place du Moukef. Local No. in Morocco 063275414. I can fax you a map.

No nothing in english. Follow the link Horaires and fill in your departure (Tanger Ville) and arrival (Casa Voyagers) stations, date of travel and the time you want to travel. The machine does the rest. You can also follow the link through L'offre Trains and get an Excel printable version of the whole timetable. Book your return journey when you buy the outward ticket if you can. ONCF only take cash (Dh or Euros). It is a lot easier than it sounds, all the ONCF staff we approached spoke english and were very friendly. Regards GordonF

Travel Tips for Agadir

Visit Antiatlas Mountains :-)

by matcrazy1

Take at least one full day trip by own or hired car and drive or buy a tour to wonderful Antiatlas Mountains with city of Tafraoute (140 km, 87 mi one way). Visit beautiful and unique Berber's villages, amazing painted roscks near Agard-Oudad (land-art) and enjoy your eyes with views over unique rocky formations and stunning mountain landcapes with small, tiny villages in valleys. Simply a must!

My first full day trip to Tafraoute from Agadir made me crazy to come back there again and I did it on the way to Western Sachara a few days later.

Taxi hire for excursions or travel out of Agadir

by angiebabe

Officially the grand taxi prices s are fixed - they of course see a tourist coming and they will try to charge more - but the normal Moroccan recommended by the govt/fixed price for the whole taxi - which we do mean grand taxi

El Batwaar (near the big souk) to: Taroudant - should be 300 dirham
Tiznit - 300 max (really about 260/270 but say 300)
Tafraoute - 600
Sidi Ifni - 500
Essaouira - 500
Immouzzer 300 return plus whatever time you want to stay for needs to be added - makes a nice half day trip - stay for 3 hours add 100 dirham

For somewhere excellent such as Amtoudi for an excellent day excursion I have contact details for a small company that have taxis and will do a day excursion for something like 1300 dirham

Moroccan Architecture

by earthflyer

The Mosque

Since Agadir has been rebuilt after the 1960 earthquake and is pretty modern the only architectural things to look at are the mosques but even they are new aswell but worth having a look around if you want to get off the beach for a while.

This mosque didn't have a name but you can find it on Ave des Forces Armees Royales (FAR).

Jardim de Olhao, striking architecture

by sachara

Looking for the small museum dedicated to the earthquake of 1960, I discovered a very special park, Jardim de Olhao. The park marks the historical ties between Morocco and Portugal, more specific the twinning between Agadir and Olhao.

The buildings, walls and structures in the garden have a very unique architecture and design. The combination of original Berber style and Portuguese style is very fascinating. A gallery, library and a lovely cafe-restaurant are built in this style. Together with the landscaping of the park it's a lovely and interesting place to visit.

Opening hours 8am till 6.30pm.
