In Essaouria we stayed in Riad Zahra. After we passed the frontdoor we entered in the colourful world of the patio in arab andalusian style (picture 1). The 23 rooms -with bathroom and satellite tv- are situated around this patio. Also our room at the first floor was very colourful decorated in the so-called Beldi style (picture 2 & 3).
The Riad has a scenic Moroccan salon (picture 4), where breakfast, dinner and drinks are served. At the backside of the riad is a terrace and a swimmingpool (picture 5) Theme: HotelPrice: US$20-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: 90, Quartier des Dunes, EssaouiraPhone: +212 24474822Directions: Riad Zahra is located in the Quarter Villa, only one block from the beach and a 15 minutes walk south from the medina.Website: www.riadzahra.com Other Contact: riadzahra@menara.ma

Impressive range of riads and accommodations in various places around Morocco - in a range of prices and budgets - particularly with the focus of more intimately run establishments - enjoy your visit to and time in Morocco from a level closer to locals rather than commercial and touristic objectives - also have the opportunity to have some of your money go to support projects that aim to help orphans or needy in Morocco. There are also 'eco' focused accommodations to choose from as well.

Hôtel Mounia by Paul2001 After staying in some questionable hotels in Morocco and was mildly pleased the Hôtel Mounia. I think that for once I was getting my moneys worth. The staff here was very helpful and the hotel seemed to be popular with the bus tour set. There are good restaurants nearby.
The hotel itself had a good restaurant. The bar was rather sleezy but this is common in Morocco. Women without male accompaniment may want to give the bar a pass. I stayed here for 1 week after I decided to come to Marrakech for a couple of weeks. As for working reasons I has to stay up to 3 weeks and tried 3 new accommodations around Marrakech. This is a fantastic place where all the house is newly renovated with all the best quality you can imagine. The owner is a French lady called Mathilde Lemoelle and she takes really good car of the house and along with the staff Simo, Beihja, Alaziza and Siham this was really my house for many days.
The decoration is just amazing, blending simplicity, useful concepts and lux. The bathrooms are really nice all with Moroccan Riad style all made in traditional tadlakt which is a special way of making construction. It does look good! I also tried the massage services that are combined with Hammam which is a Moroccan steam bth that really clean you out, followed by a massage. My stay here was one of luxury, my room was excellent. It was minimal but clean, spacious for a single traveller and with en-suit. At first i imagined over looking the main square would be noisy, however i was proved wrong. The restaurant is on the ground floor but you will be spoilt for choice on places to eat and drink. The shops are plentyful and brimming with tempting goodies and the local market/shops are near by too. by pfsmalo We ran into a sand storm before Erfoud and were thankful to find this small hotel with the help of a kid we picked up on the road (probably his Dad's hotel). Room was very clean and the hotel was cheap and cheerful. Food was very good. Toilets and showers are on the landing. Breakfast is had at a small café across the road. Room was 70 DH for the double. I had a few run-ins with the owner, but I was also filming for a month in the area - I had a few run-ins with everyone in Imlil, I think. Over all, Si Mohammed (the owner) was generous, helped me with my time there - I found the hotel's foyer, hammam space, and cafe in better condition than my room. I think you need to ask to see the best rooms. It's cheap, safe, pretty clean...I recommend it as a budget choice.
