 | Morocco Reviews | Tips 61 - 70 of 318 | | After resisting a hustler pressuring us to stay at a hotel he recommends, we found this clean and safe hotel. On one occasion, my roommate forgot to close the door to our room, leaving it wide open for a few hours while both of us were out, not a thing was missing. One thing to watch out for was the night receptionist tried to charge me 10dh to use the hotel phone(pay phones charges only 2dh)
Very clean and spacious toilet and showers on each floor. English speaking staff. Great location. 158dh per night per double room includes breakfast(pretty good coffee) in the comfortable lobby. We were suckered in by a local we met on the train, who said she can take us to a friends hotel which only charge 80dh for a double room, but ended up we had to pay the hotel 100dh when we arrived.
The building is run down. Rooms are old, with doors that did not close properly. The roof terrace was more like a warehouse. Stairways smell like cat urine. scary toilets. Enormous, friendly, climate controlled, not exotic - just what you need if you are concerned about culture shock. The staff spoke english - not that I needed to since I speak arabic - were extremely professional. I recommend the Sheraton for people like me when you are doing business and wish to be in a non-distracting environment that will have all the amenitites of hotel office and meeting hall. Really - do it - treat yourself - pay that 150 dollar and up tag and don't look back. I will say that it is a hotel made for business and a bit of socializing and that I would recommend something smaller for single travellers on the cheap and otherwise.
It is quite a handsome amount of real estate and I will always remember feeling a bit overwhelmed at the size of the foyer and it's wonderful poshness...The service staff is truly top-notch - accountable for everything, which I find a relief when planning business meetings... We only stopped at this hotel to have lunch in our trip along the coast. The lunch was good, but nor remarkable. Generally, the hotel pleased us. A very nice garden surrounding the pool, and a excellent look over the sea and town, with the Portuguese fortress "inviting us" to the visit. We had no time to go, and I regretted it, leaving Safi with the feeling that we should have spent at least a couple of hours there. Now, reading VT, I realise that, maybe, we didn't miss much. But that fortress... Leave a Comment

One of the most pleasant places I stayed at in all Morocco. We were welcomed in as if we were part of the family, shown a room then given free tea, even the evening I was invited to watch a football match (soccer) on the family television. A lovely meal was served in the garden, this garden in itself is worth the stay here. Ali can even look after you if you need a tour in a 4X4 or trekking in the desert. A real experience and a home from home !!
Very handy if you're on your way to the dunes at M'Hamid. Certainly a quiet period in the area(end September) we were the only people in the hotel which made it even more peaceful. Very friendly welcome by Ahmed himself, made us feel really at home.Gave us a room that gave onto the rooftop terrace where we sat ouside to watch the sun go down over the Atlas mountains. A great view over the rooftops to the Glaoui casbah as well. Food at the restaurant was very good and cheap.Nice room done out in arabic style.Room was 150 DH and meal 65 DH (approx 14 and 6 Euros).
