An excellent quality and inexpensive (200 Dirhams including meals - 2010) Kasbah set on the edge of the Erg-Chebbi desert.
Great food and dining area and very nice rooms.
Right by the sand dunes at Erg-Chebbi with great outdoor area for viewing.
Can arrange camel trips, 4WD trips or quad bikes into the desert.

We have a friend who has a travel agency and gets discounts and knows good deals all over the place - so when we are driving around and need somewhere particularly if unexpected we ring him and see what he recommends
For Agadir the other night he recommended Hotel Les Palmiers and for a pretty straight laced commercial hotel its a good deal - especially when surrounded by tourist package resort hotels that can charge huge prices for erratic quality and service.
This is a really good value 2 star hotel that Moroccan travellers and business men would use when wanting a place thats quiet, clean, has restaurant and cafe facilities and easy to get in and out of.
We had easy enough street parking with guardian overnight.
The mattresses were the best ever!
Excellent hot water.
Everything was clean - which is just about always a worry when checking into a place in Morocco! (though cleanliness standards are notably improving).
TV in the room.
and apparently there is room service so you could have breakfast in bed if you wanted!
We got breakfast included as part of our discount but even normal price of 26 dirham per person its good value - and the coffee was delicious. Dinner is available at night for 80 dirham per person for set menu.
Accommodation is 244 dirham for single 310 for double - this should include taxes.
We didnt stay but we certainly hope to one day in the not too far future!
We were out taking photos at Imn Ifri's tourist attraction which is the Natural Bridge there having come up over the beautiful pass from near Skoura and were approached by the owner were we looking for a place to stay.
We were interested to have a look though and make some publicity for him as along with another new hotel being built nearby there has not been accommodation up in these parts - and particularly nice higher star type accommodation.
This place is on the side of the huge valley that spreads out from Imn Ifri and at the time of sunset when we were there the light across the valley was beautiful - there was an orchard of almond trees in blossom next door as well.
Seeing the huge pool was impressive - then we went into the foyer and the ceiling and inner riad style foyer is just stunning style traditional of a palace....really beautiful with a salon that had the afternoon sun and a huge central chandelier to alleviate the space!
The rooms are very nice and loook very comfortable - with Moroccan carpets and paintings - Moroccan tiling in the bathrooms - and 3 rooms have an open fire - handy if staying on a cold winter or spring night.
The prices are fantastic value for all this - 1000 dirham for 2 persons with dinner and breakfast - 700 for a single - there is a 200 dirham supplement for children 12 or under and an extra bed is available for them
Sleeping under the stars in the Sahara Desert was awesome!
I would totally recommend it if you can spare an extra few days to take a trip out to the Sahara Desert. Our experience with Sahara Dreams Maroc was fantastic and I would love to do the whole thing again!!

To me the difference between satisfied and a great experience when staying somewhere is how the staff interract with me. Here at Riad Dar Ayour not only were the staff charming, but they were most attentative and made us laugh. They always had something nice or amusing to say and made us feel like we were part of the family.
I would welcome staying here again and I totally recommend the place for anyone visiting Tinghir Morocco.

This was the first place we stayed at on our 5 day desert trip. Riad Dar Chamaa was like an oasis in the desert and we enjoyed our overnight stay.
It was nice to have a swim in the pool then relax overlooking the lovely Moroccan countryside. Our bed was comfy and breakky was nice too. The staff were attentative and always had a smile.
I recommend this accommodation for your stay in Ouarzazate. And by the way it scored a high 8.8 on booking.com and is recommended by Trip Advisor. You couldn't ask better than that.

My experience with recently established riad Layla Rouge is fantastic. Friendly, almost family atmosphere, lovely, kind and very helpful owners. Great location - riad is located only 3 minutes walk from the D'Jeema el Fna. Very well equipped rooms, including sofa, very comfy double bed, air condition, towels, shower gel, colourful and best to hide in when temperature reaches 50 degrees! Tour desk, where you can book, for example, your 3 day Sahara trip. There are 2 terraces on the top, where you can relax in the evening or at night drinking Moroccan mint tea kindlu served by the owners and smoking shisha. These are reasons for which I will recommend this place when staying in Marrakech.
NB. Book via www.hostels.com to pay lower booking fee.

- 2 terraces on the top of the riad with a lot of sofas, chairs and tables

The first time we stayed here it was off-season and we were the only guests - its a gite which means its really for hikers or people staying to experience the outdoor activities and mainly groups come here so the rooms are mostly 3 or 4 or more single wood based beds with a single mattress together - providing accommodation for more people at less cost - they are very comfortable though! and easily moved together if you want to make a double bed.
There are many gites around the area as theres much hiking that can be enjoyed in this area - many groups come including school groups. We took the recommendations of Moroccan friend to try this gite and it proved to be a fabulous happening for us! Houssine met us in the village of Tabant - about 75 kms along the road from Azilal - and directed us to his village of Ait Imi only 2-3 kms away but quite rough stone/piste road which included a small river crossing. Then parking about 5 minutes walk from the gite through dirt pathways and then through the village.
Despite being way out in quite a remote area of Morocco - under the ATlas mountains - in a mudbrick village the water for a shower was excellent - great pressure and plenty of hot water. This proved to still be the case when we returned 2 months later this June. The facilities are communal but very clean. The bedrooms and bedding supplied were all very clean.
houssine had arranged a delicious tagine for us and proved an excellent conversationist to learn more about his family and the village of Ait Imi and the area of Ait Bogoumez.
The next day a satisfying breakfast of fresh bread with cheese and jam, coffee and tea and a piece of fruit.
Our second visit despite impending arrival being very very late Moha was still concerned that a tagine be available - we arrived at 2am and there was no complaint of the disturbance - very kindly offered us a pot of tea as well. Moha looked after this visit as Houssine was away guiding a 20 day trek across the Atlas mountains.
WE stayed for 3 nights in this lovely place with its kind, peaceful and smiling people - the area was abloom with flowers and the fields and orchards amass with greenery. The village itself makes an interesting roam around its pathways to see the houses connect with each other, the building designs and even the rugs that were out to dry. Then people were coming down through the villages on their donkeys and mules from villages above in the mountains.
Chez Moha also is well known for its horses and we took opportunity of a horse trek from Chez Moha about 5 kms across the beautiful fields with its spring flowers to the Unesco site of dinosaur prints and back. Horse treks are usuallly about 120 dirham an hour.
Also in JUne the fieilds around Tabant are ablaze with purple and yelllow flowers and lush wheat. On closer examination I realised the hundreds or thousands of purple flower stems were orchids!! with many flowers on each stem...aamzing!
People are still kind and do things from the heart - we were charged such a fair price that we offered a bit more - on both visits!! Other locals around the valley were a mix of very friendly and wanting their photos taken or not minding or giving their permission easy - and about the other 50% refusing to have their photos and keeping to themselves.
Its quiet, remote and very pretty - even in early March when it was cold and there was still snow on the mountains.
As the Lonely Planet says - it does look like the Himalayas!

Was in Marrakech area for 6 days this month
It will be very HOT-recommend you split time between ESSOURIA on Ocean and Palmerie outside of Marrakech Centre- first has Ocean breezes/charm, second has great Resorts/Dars with pools/air conditioning
Enjoy
