Erg Chebbi's friendliest hostel

If you want to meet a really nice bunch of people this auberge is for you. The service is excellent, the family could not do enough for us. They serve traditional Moroccan food, breakfast and dinner, also lunch on request. Accomodation is comfortable with ensuite shower.
I highly recommend this to anyone who plans to visit the sand dunes, wishes to explore a traditional village, take a camel trip in the desert, likes friendly people, exciting music, good Moroccan food and wants to relax and chill out.

Unique Quality: The view from the auberge is stunning, just a few minutes walk to the magnificient Erg Chebbi sand dunes which can be seen whilst relaxing on the patio at the front of the property. If you like to listen to traditional live music this auberge is a must. On the nights we were there the staff just started an impromptu 'jam' session with any guests who wanted to joining in, there were plenty of 'drums' and instruments for all. Fantastic, the music is very exciting. The nice thing was it was all so informal and friendly, everybody just played for the fun of it - just how music should be made.
I cannot quote prices as we stayed here as part of a Moroccan trip with a local guide but am sure it is very reasonable. Please contact me if you would like further info

Oubana's Oasis

I stay for there two weeks. And it was marvellous. Fours days travelling and sleeping in the desert, with the stars, the moon, the dromedaries, the wind and the hot sand. No noise, no pollution, fresh air. Next days travelling with the nomads, living with them, eating and sleeping with them. I saw and heard Gnawas singing and dancing. I saw the dilation of time. I saw the old volcano. I love dromedaries, animals of another age.
I hope you enjoy there like me.

Unique Quality: Ali and his brother are fascinating. Oubana's family was touareg. She is one of the first to have settled beside the erg Chebbi, extraordinary place. They thus know very well the area and their inhabitants. To travel with them is a continuous discovery. Their reception, their gentiless is a true luxury for the traveller.
