Auberge right next to the largest of the dunes around Merzouga Sahara - nice and close, walk out of your rooms and comfortable restaurant area and walk out and up the dunes. Enjoy the sunrise or the sunset. Low price and good meals - best Kahlia i have had around the Risanni-Merzouga area.
the manager will organise any camel trip you would like too - go out for breakfast while enjoying the sunrise, or go out to see the sunset from near the top. or go out for the whole overnight in a bedouin tent with meal cooked experience. If you want to go for a few days and meet some nomad families that can also be arranged or 4x4 drives - and its an excellent experience to get out and see life in the desert.
Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable - with or without bathroom facillities or you even book the Royal suite!
Great views, friendly staff, good cooking (try the excellent local dish Kalia), and nightly drumming. Reasonable prices and all the camel stuff can be arranged for you.
Easy access if driving - take the tar sealed road towards Merzouga and follow the sign that turns off to the left towards the big dunes to the auberge. Large spacious multi storied hotel decorated in classic fine moroccan style, polite and professional staff - couldnt resist a wander just to look at the artefacts and paintings decorating the place.
Large spacious rooms with air conditioning - although the bathroom is rather compact and for 'big' people a bit of a squeeze - but clean.
Swimming pool out with the back!!
An oasis in the heat of Risanni.
We were able to get an excellent price as we know some locals which meant we enjoyed our excellent value hotel room even more, and my friend that i was showing around morocco for the first time was having difficulty with the heat so she loved the break - and getting to see a bit more culture ie the moroccan interior style.
But even the tourist price is very good value but especially in quieter times just haggle if you want a lower price.

Newly built auberge built in traditional mud brick style but upmarket with mod cons and loads of character and style. Very comfortable with airconditioning, ensuite and 4-poster beds.
Also the Queens suite with connecting rooms, great if you want to splash out with your kids or group of friends. Pleasant staff and hotel is only 1 km from Risanni.
Would recommend it especially in summer for time out from the summer heat with its pool and good airconditioning. and nice experience of upmarket with character.
Excellent breakfast and place to have it in - at tables out around the pool or undercover in a salon furnished in traditional Moroccan style decor.
haggled and got lower price than similar quality hotels such as Hotel Asmaa nearby.
Excursions can be arranged to take you out from here to the desert of the Sahara about half an hour away - trips out to catch the colours of the dunes changing at sunset, or for an early morning visit for sunrise, or stay overnight in Ennasra's own bivouac camp in the desert at either their standard camp or more private luxury level camp, or have a day or half day 4x4 driving trip visiting areas further out into the desert - past the black hamada, to oases, see the abandoned cobalt mine and of course the sandy desert all the while seeing families that eke their existence out here, and the circuit that takes you right around the Erg Chebbi and dunes to Taouz and the Gnawa music association at Khamlia.

After Meski the Ziz River and the valley of the Tafilalt appear. This valley cuts through the barren hills. Here lived an isolated Arab community, of the Alouite dynasty in fortresses. At the end of the Tafilalt area lies Rissani.

I travelled to Rissani from Zagora by bus, and I arrived very tired at Rissani. This hotel was presented to me when I entered the city and, as I was informed about this place throught Lonely Planet guide, I acceped the offer. When I looked at the bed and at the bathroom, I asked the owner to give me my money back because I wasn't interested to stay for a night in such place. He told me it wasn't possible, then I went out to look for another place but I didn't find better.
I just advise you do not stay in Rissani. Merzouga is a good option.
Rooms are dirty and they don't change the sheets. I had to buy a sheet to sleep here.
They have a restaurant, but I don't believe they offer a good quality.

The Hotel Sijilmassa is prominently sited on the small square just inside the gate, where the collective taxis from Erfoud drop you.
This is a medium-sized hotel obviously catering to group tour bookings: when I visted I was the only guest, and the place didn't have the feel of being properly open. I enquired about whether I could eat in the hotel. Yes I could.... What would I like? But they had no food in the kitchen, anything I wanted would have to be shopped for.... it all seemed like too much bother, so I headed off to see what the town could offer.
Freindly and pleasant enough, with largeish rooms and a large roof terrace but hardly memorable.
I think I paid 80 dirham for a single room

The kasbah Ennasra is a newly built kasbah in traditional style. In the innercourt there is a swimmingpool, a berber tent and a snackbar. The kasbah has also a restaurant and a tea room. The rooms have the entrance at a lovely inner garden and every room has its own patio.
The whole place is nicily decorated with all kind of local and traditional objects.
At arrival in the hotel we had a lovely welcome tea with snacks. It was winter, but in the sun the temperature was high enough to sit outdoors, so we enjoyed the tea at in the innercourt. In the evening it was too cold to sit outside, so we moved to the tearoom with heating.
In the lobby is a pc with free internet acces. The hotel organises 4WD excursions and cameltrips into the desert. We booked a 4WD trip in the hotel and visited the black desert before heading to the Erg Chebbi dunes.
