Auberge Baddou - Chez Ahmed Abaz: Stay somewhere remote and peaceful

Stayed here a couple of times and it was always one of my favourite places - way up almost the end of the road where those who like to stick to the beaten track dont usually go - so its another sweet place with a difference.

Right over the road from Auberge Bougafer.

About 10 kms further on from the too touristy hotels at Todra Gorge this place is nicely away from it -and when I was first taken there by my boyfriend who loved it up there the place was still run on generator power and we had to use candles and lanterns after 10pm - as with the Dades gorges its now on electricity which is great but such as it is with these places its best to be prepared for any power cuts such as can happen in bad weather so I reckon always travel with a torch and even pick up some candles along the way - especially if you have the luxury of having a car to carry all these extras for you!

Remote and different - up in a valley surrounded by rugged hills of the gorges area - kasbahs in the nearby village.
Nice family run auberge - bedouin tents to sit out in for breakfast.

Excellent on your budget - only about 150 dirham without breakfast - an extra 25 dirham or so for each person for breakfast. Carry water with you if youre driving - or way up there you have to pay for the extra they have to pay ie 10 dirham (75p!! that price is fine!) for a bottle instead of 5.

We drove on through to Imilchil for the marriage festival a few years ago - a lot of the road was piste but good piste ie fine for normal car - but this year 2010 it had all been recently upgraded with reconstruction over the mountain pass and it was a nice drive with bitumen all the way - the mountain pass would be impassable though if theyve had heavy snow which can be expected in the winter but otherwise its a good road and very scenic.....
