Apartment Rentals in Essaouira

by amoslieber

I'm planning on going to Morocco for about 3 months in january. I don't have much money so am thinking htat rather than travel too much I'm going to rent an apartment in a town and get active. A friend recommended surfing in Essaouira. How much would it cost to rent for the 3 months? Would it be difficult to finda place? What would be a reasonable budget for the time spent there?

Thanks in advance

Re: Apartment Rentals in Essaouira

Hello,
Finding a place will not be difficult, In fact there are plenty of apartments to rent in the off season, both inside the Medina & in the new town. Before we bought our own place we rented a one bed apartment in the Medina for 570Euro per month, It was on the top floor so we had use of the terrace, water, gas, electric, a washing machine and internet connection were also included. As for a reasonable budget it would all depend on your life style, if you cook all your own meals, don't drink or smoke you could probably live on less than 50 Dirhams per day (5euro). If you have other questions please contact me again.

Travel Tips for Essaouira

The big one !

by JLBG

This one is certainly the biggest. All others had about the same size. It must have something special too as the enclosure of its berth has been elegantly painted in white and blue, while all others are plain unpainted wood ! The owner is an artist !

Blue little corners

by matcrazy1

Natives through the years developed a pretty art in Essaouira adding more and more colors to predominating white. The most common colour after the white is blue. There are numerous blue doors and gates all around the old town (medina).

I was lucky to discover really amazing little corners, streets, houses, gates, covered passages, doors and wells not so easy to find anywhere else in Morocco.

The modern & relaxed lounge

by coolscript about Le Mechouar

The restaurant is very well situated, in the main street of the Medina, between the ramparts. It offers its guests a nice view of the hustle and bustle of the city, a quiet and sophisticated dining-room. Pastilla

Skala du Port

by iwys

The Skala du Port is the fortified tower that defends the harbour entrance. This square tower, with little turrets in each corner, is quite different in style to the circular north and south bastions. You can pay DH10 to climb to the top of the tower.

Flemish coat of arm

by JLBG

Another one bears too a Flemish coat of arm but of a different style. It shows the Flemish lion, which is clearly seen on the picture. Along the centuries, the brass has got a natural patina from the sea sprays.
