First fishing boat to arrive
The first fishing boat arrives early in the morning. It would look better if it had some refurbishing with blue and white paint ! It does not seem to be heavily loaded but customers are awaiting anyway !

Hello!
Planning a few days in Essaouira in July, and would appreciate all your tips on romantic hangouts, restaurants, promenades etc. in and around Essaouira.

There are a lot of stalls on tourist trails/streets od Essaouira open since early morning till dusk. The exhibitions of wood works are quite impressive. Local wooden handicraft like drums, plates etc. The first prices seemed very attractive for me - lower than in other destinations in Morocco. Bargain, bargain, bargain. Good luck :-).
We sat outside and watched the post-sunset crowd drift by. Quite large gaps between courses, but we weren't in a hurry, and the cats who soon found us kept us entertained. We had a very tasty meal of soup, chicken tagine, chicken couscous, dessert, and bottled water for 100dh, about $15.00 Canadian.
You will find the medina of Essaouira a little bit different from the other one (Marrakesh, Fes, Meknes). The medina was built by the french architect Cornut, for the foreign traders and military purpose.
It's one of the rare city where the urbanism was done before the construction.
All the guide books, brochures state that this is where Orson Welles filmed the dramatic opening shots to 'Othello', more recently they've featured in 'Alexander'. I've just found a video of Othello in a charity shop, so am looking forward to watching the opening scenes!
Worth seeing for the views overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, with waves crashing onto the rocks below. Apparently it's a popular spot for watching the sunsets!
Below the ramparts are workshops for artists and woodworkers etc. These were the original munitions stores.
