Kasbah de la Vallée: Quiet and Secluded
This self proclaimed two-star hotel is nothing special, but nice enough. The rooms are rather spacious and due to the high mountain air, are comfortably cool. The beds are rather soft and offer a good night's sleep.
The rooms have their own bathrooms, but of the ones I saw, all are rather small. The fixtures in the bathrooms are of various qualities, but they do what they are intended for. The bathrooms all have vent windows which open into the main hotel corridor, so noise and light is possible.
The river is immediately opposite the road, so the sound of flowing water may help put you to sleep.
Unique Quality: The hotel offers a full restaurant. Depending on your reservation, it may be included.
There is also a small bar, with a few selections of beer and wine.
Breakfast is included with the rooms, with a selection of breads, jam and juice/tea.

Atlas Berbere: Hotel in the Gorges
Hotel Atlas Berbere is one of the hotels in the Gorges. It's a small basic hotel with a restaurant and a small souvenir shop. We had a room with view at the gorge and river. There is a terrace directly at the riverside with a view at the river and a part of the gorge.
We visited the Gorges de Dades in january during wintertime. In the afternoon we could sit outdoors, but in the evening we were very happy with the heating in our room and the open fire in the restaurant to keep us warm.
The hotel organises walks in the mountains and in the valley. We pre-booked the hotel and the walk with www.marokkoonline.nl.
Unique Quality: A cosy basic hotel at a stunning place. Good food and nice walks.

Hotel la Kasbah de la Vallee
Our second hotel in the Dades Valley was quite a contrast to our first. Hotel la Kasbah de la Vallee was much bigger and full of tourists. It’s just one of the many hotels located about 28km into the valley, in an area just before the switchback roads climb to the top of the valley. The scenery here wasn’t quite as good as at the first hotel and the hiking opportunities were fewer, though there still more than enough to keep us happy.
We had a nice room on the top floor overlooking the river and the narrow gorge beyond. The people running the hotel were friendly and we were even offered a complimentary mint tea on the terrace after we’d checked in. Half board was the only option here and it cost 500 Dinar (approx 50 Euro) for everything.

Hotel Kasbah Ait Arbi: Morocco's friendliest hotel
For our first night in the valley we stayed at Hotel Kasbah Ait Arbi, located about 18km north of Boumalne, near the strange rock formations for which the Dades valley is famous. The hotel is run by a family of brothers and is one of the friendliest places we stayed in in Morocoo, or indeed anywhere.
We were the only guests that evening but judging from the guest book we read later the place is usually much busier. We were made to feel so much at home that it was tempting to forget the rest of our trip and just stay here for two weeks. We had a nice bedroom with a view over the fascinating rock formations of Tamnalt; we had breakfast on a lovely terrace overlooking the mountains and the nearby Berber village; we had dinner in a lovely Moorish style room - the food was lovely and there was enough for 6 people. After the meal we played cards with the brothers and discussed everything from Moroccan politics to hiking in the mountains. The following day we went on a six-hour hike into Tamnalt, reaching the famous shaped rocks which dominate the landscape.

La Kasbah de la Vallee: an even better spot in the Dades Gorges
These people are good friends and connections of my connections and they treated me like family too - but the friendliness i could see was not just to me and their friends with me but to other guests in the hotel as well. Friends of mine from London had been brought here when i organised a trip for them last year and they had a great time here too.
Busy place with some pretty big groups get brought here but there are many rooms and its a very reliable place to be able to get last minute accommodation but just as well we booked as by the time we arrived I had the last room. (which wonderfull the next day they moved me into an excellent room with my own balcony overlooking the sights around us!) - a tip - ask for a room that faces the river/road, as all of them have their own balconies!
They are wonderfully gracious, obliging hosts with the type of integrity and character that encourages visitors to stay longer or return again!
Unique Quality: Great views and location - the Dades Gorge Road is one of the loveliest, loaded with interesting and photogenic sights, roads in Morocco and this hotel with its location between slanting hillsides and small river beside, and advantages of rooftop views, just down the road from the famous spaghetti curls in the road heading on up to the main gorges is great.
The hotel is a huge hotel with many rooms, almost like a rabbit warren to get around!, but its completely tiled and has always been nice and clean when ive been there. And despite being a large modern hotel the place still feels very much Moroccan with interesting lamps, rugs and fittings in traditional and colurful styles and designs.
Unfortunately this also means that it can be pretty cold when its very cold outside as it usually is in winter but there were talks of heating being installed for this coming winter.
Good food too!

Situated in a narrow valley surrounded by steep hills heading on up to the Dades Gorge is a lovely spot to relax and be calm with a large patio under vines and greenery to sit outdoors. Nice way to start the day with breakfast outside or cool respite from the summer heat.
Newly renovated auberge is clean with character and comfort and pleasant staff.
Unique Quality: Lovely and picturesque surrounds.

Tissadrine Auberge: an excellent spot up the Dades Gorges
Newly renovated family run auberge in a lovely spot next to river surrounded by photogenic rock faces.
Newl renovated in pleasant traditional style using moroccan crafts and artefacts.
Clean and spacious.
English speaking hosts.
Unique Quality: Great views, patio and outside eating area surrounded by vine covered trellis' for shade to cool during the heat of summer and provide character.
Good value for all that is included - we haggled and got a bit cheaper as it was quiet at the time and they needed some business - usual price is still good value - 140 dirham per person for spacious room with ensuite - very large double bed and large single bed - and 3 course evening meal and breakfast.
