ait ben haddou is around 30 kilometers and an easy and very interesting daytrip to make from ouarzazate.
it's an old desert castle sitting on top of a hill and the place is listed as world heritage by UNESCO.
the village where it's located is very small, so you might prefer to stay in ouarzazate and do a day trip out there.
ait ben haddou is easily reached by mini bus or taxi.
42 km from Ouarzazate is the town of Skoura surrounded by palm groves. A number of kasbahs can be seen in amongst the palms from the main road - Ben Morro is right on the main road and has been renovated and converted into a hotel and restaurant.
Across the river bed is the largest, the Amerhildil, once also owned by the Glaouis and which can be visited for a low entry fee of about 5-10 dirham and a tour guide can show you around inside the kasbah and explain the history and how up to 4 families usually lived within the complex.
Other kasbahs nearby are no longer lived in or as in the Ait Abou, from 1863, its outbuildings have been turned into a gite.
Market day at Skoura is on Mondays which gives a touristique bonus!
The French built Ouarzazate in the 1920s as an army garrison. It is now a city of 55,000. Because it is in a scenic location between the Sahara and the mountains, it gets tourists.
Ouarzazate is also a popular film location, and there are several big movie studios here, including Atlas Studios.
There is a large ‘Film Reels’ statue in the middle of Ouarzazate, celebrating their status as a movie location. Movies such as Jewel of the Nile, Moses, and Cleopatra were filmed here (and so were a lot of Westerns.)
We didn't spend much time here--it was just a stop for the night, after a full day of sightseeing and visiting, on our way to Marrakech.

I dont know the name of this place, it is somewhere between Quarzazate & Ait Benhaddou.
If anybody knows what this place is called please let me know.
