4 wheel drive to Telouet
by angiebabe
Instead of going the Ouarzate to Marrakech main road route to Telouet which takes about an hour and a half theres the 4 wheel drive route to Telouet which goes past Ait Benhaddou and is stunning - its only 58 km - but its strictly four wheel drive vehicle route -
but we did it in our little normal car! it took us 5 hours!!
but we did it and what a challenge and a stunning day out!!(i had a rather amazing at the wheel boyfriend!)
It can also make an excellent walk which can be done in 2 days and you link up with minibuses that go from anmiter fairly frequently into Telouet which is 11 km from Anmiter. also From anmiter are buses that go back to Marrakech each morning about 7 am .
If you are wanting to go back to Ouarzazate then you can catch a grande taxi to amezgane and then wait for one to Ouarzazate, not usually very long a wait, or catch the early morning bus and get off at the main road and flag a grande taxi or bus.
Artisan Centre
by suvanki
During my visit to the Taourirt Kasbah, Mohamed, my guide took me to this Artisan centre. I was shown around by Mahamed Najib Hamim, a berber, dressed in a blue jellabah and headpiece, who was proud to show me around the various rooms, set out on 3 or 4 floors.
This centre is a museum, art/craft gallery, and shop.
There is a large collection of Berber, Arabic, Jewish artifacts, which Mahamed is pleased to be amassing.
I was shown around the many rooms, with items of interest being pointed out. At one stage I found myself being dressed as a Berber lady, also as a Tourag!
The rooftop room had great views over Ouarzazate. I was looking out at what I thought was a Church tower, which I was told was in fact a film set!
In one room I spotted a great black and white photo of a man in casual western clothes with dreadlocks, I asked Mahamed who it was, he broke out into a huge smile and said it was him, a few years before!
Although, there was a bit of a possibility of trying to make a sale of goods shown to me, there was no pressure on me- Mahamed seemed to genuinely enjoy showing me around his place.
If it hadn't been the start of my holiday, and I wasn't intending to spend money/carry stuff around in my already heavy bag for the next 2 weeks, I might have been tempted to buy a few items.
I'd been shown some pieces of jewellery and was asked if I preferred silver or gold. When I answered silver, Mahamed smiled broadly, and said that I was A Berber, as they prefer silver, whereas Arabs prefer gold.
From Ouarzazate to the Draa Valley

Strange...very strange! Mars or the Moon??
On this picture :
The road leading from Ouarzazate to the Draa valley makes the rise of Tizi-n-Tinififft (1660m) in a dark and stripped landscape with strange rock formations.

Tizi'n'Tinififft Pass
After 3 days of travelling around Dades Valley & Jebel Sarhro regions of central Morocco, the views from the top of Tizi'n'Tinififft Pass were spectacular and In the background you can see Jebel Kissane (1531m). If by luck your driving around here at sunset then will be rewarded with some stunning rock colours when the sun goes down.
You can find these views on P31 between Quarzazate and Agdz heading towards Zagora.
