Todra Gorge Practicalitites

HOTELS AND ALTERNATIVES
From the point where you come to the entrance of the gorge, and even through the gorge, there are a number of charming hotels. None offer much in terms of luxury, but the dramatic nature would make that unnatural. Still, value for money is good, and even when some of the hotels fills up with package tourists, other hotels will have spare rooms.
RESTAURANTS AND ALTERNATIVES
Eat in the hotels, and once again value for money is good. But the presentation is simple and the variety is limited.
NIGHTLIFE
Nothing.
CHANGE MONEY
Nothing. Do this in Tinerhir just 5 km south.
TRANSPORT
As long as you have made it to Tinerhir, you actually could do well without motorized transportation. There is a new great for every 100 meters you pass. But this would mean that most of one long day would be used in the region. If you are short on time, arrange for a return taxi from Tinerhir.
IMPORTANT
The best time for visiting between 8.00 and 13.00, as the angle and the low sun in the afternoons make it difficult to shoot great photos.
Wedding in the Gorges du Todra
by chrisvandenbroucke
When we just had finished our day trip to the somewhat disappointing Gorges du Todra, we happened to be in the middle of a wedding photo shooting.
Nice to say how all of the party went into the water...
The Todra Gorge (part III)
by amsterdam_vallon
What is on the other side, is more or less only what was on the side you came from: A river with normal, red mountains on both sides.
On this side, you see that the gorge is not just a passing through the mountain. It is also a part of the road between the villages of Tinerhir and the valley of Aït Morrhad, where Tamtattoucht is the first important settlement you come to.
Don't miss Tinerhir!

"Small relaxing town with stunning palmeraie"
Tinerhir is a small and coasy town near the entrance of the Todra gorge.
The town itself is quite small, with some shops and restaurants in the center. There is also a small kasbah near the center. According to us the main attraction of the town is the expanding palmeraie. It stretches along the town all the way to the Todra gorge. You can spend hours walking here and enjoying the scenery of the daily life in the palmeraie.
And that was exactly what we did!
Jumping-off point for Todra Gorge
by DesertStar
We spent two nights here, enjoying the Todra Gorge scenery by day and our great hotel by night.
Tinerhir was lovely when viewed from the surrounding hills, and a lively place to stroll around in as well. The people were pleasant, and aside from the area right by the market, it was quite low-key.
The door to our tower room at the Hotel Tomboctou.
