Every town in Morocco has lodging, even if it's a cheap pension. If you have no luck in Fez you can find something in any town nearby and you can take the busses or (depending on the town you chose) even the train to Fez when you need it.

School - Learn Your Numbers - No Graffiti

by Mikebb

On the road to Fes we passed through many towns and villages, always with the camera ready for that unusual photo, and there were many. The wall around this primary school has been put to use to help children learn their numbers.

Far better than graffiti, can we learn something from this!

The Fez airport is around 10kms from the new part of the city. Direct flights from London and Paris fly into Saiss Airport. The national airline Royal Air Moroc has flights twice a day from Casablanca.

The Bali

by amsterdam_vallon

The Bali, or the oldest quarters of Fez, were to a large degree saved by the French general Lyautey. When the French got in control of Morocco around the time of World War I, he made all necessary arrangements to protect the medieval structures against the modern development.

The result is that Fez el Bali has taken good care of its old architectural structures and is also very much a living city, where most streets are too narrow for cars and donkeys and mules are in common use. Just like all through its history, Fez el Bali has a striking combination of poverty and developed culture.

The Fes El-Bali is composed of two historical entities wich are divided by the Fes Oued : the Andalous neighborhood and the Kairouanais.

Medersa Bou Inania

by barryg23

A medersa a religous college, where students study the theology and religious law. Unlike most medersas, Bou Inania also continas a mosque. This section of the building is closed to non-muslims and is separated from the main courtyard by a small stream.
