Bus service to Marrakesh?

by Artgab

Is there a bus to marrakech and how long does it take? Is there a better alternative?

An alternative would be to take the bus to tangier and the train to Marrakech. or a train to Cassablanca via Fes.
Sorry I don't know about a bus direct to Marrakech but I know it is a very long journey.

I have no info on direct buses to Marrakech, so you will need to go via Fes which will be a six hour trip, but it's done over night and you won't see any of the awesome Rif Mountain views along the way but it will get you to Fes, or you can get a bus to Casablanca but will be a 11 hour trip.

From Fes you can either take the train or bus to Marrakech.

My info is from CTM buses which I always use whenever in Morocco.

Just had a thought their is only one bus doing the Casablanca route from Nador and it will be the same service to Fes. If you can do 11 hours on a bus I would perhaps go all the way to Casablanca and stay the night then only have a 3-4 hour bus or train trip to Marrakech the next day, unless you want to visit Fes then train or bus from their onto Marrakech, the choice is yours, either way you will have a long trip.

CTM leaves Fez for Marrakech every morning and night - the morning bus is a good bus to catch to see scenery along the way - leaves 7 or 730 and arrives at 315 pm with a half hour stop for lunch

Thanks to all of you for your helpful answers. I think I will try to plan a different departure point than Nador and may ask some more advice then!

Travel Tips for Nador

Nador

Nador
Nador sits on the Mediterranean coastline near the spanish enclave of Melilla, unlike over Moroccan coastal towns Nador dosn't have a beach or a fishing harbour in sight but sits on the edge of a Lagoon called Sebkha Bou Areq. Nador looks like a popular place for Moroccan holidaymakers and for French & Spanish tourist aswell, as Nador has a ferry service to Tulum in Franch and Almeria in Spain but you will not find the port in Nador itself apparantly the Port is about 13km away.

Nador is set on a grid system and is very easy to get around. There is not alot to see here apart from strolling along the Lagoon or abit of window shopping but there is the Grand Mosque with a thin minaret that may interest some people but there is no Medina to wander around in. Nador is a safe place to walk around and the people are very friendly including the Moroccan tourist. It is worth a one night stay but there is not enough to see to stay for 2 nights.
