Good only for one night's stay

    by

This is the type of hotel that's good for a very quick stay -- when you don't really care much for looks or service or style, when all you care about is just to have a bed to rest in for a few hours of sleep, and when your stay is so short, you don't even bother to hang anything in the wardrobe, you don't even bother to check what side your window is facing, and all you look forward to is a quick breakfast in the morning and then to dash off to wherever to really begin your travel.

The concierge and the hotel porters here left me feeling really wary, and a bit intimidated. The reception staff also need to be trained better on hospitality services. The food in the restaurant was ok, though, as well as the breakfast buffet. As to the room itself, the beds were comfortable, there was a nice flatscreen TV, but as i would discover to be quite usual in this country, the bathroom could use much improvement.

    Unique Quality: Good central location

  • Got robbed and hotel says "it is your problem"

    by

I left my room to have dinner at the hotel's restaurant. When I got back to my room, after being away for about 1 hour, my Iphone was missing and also 100 dolar from my wallet. I asked the staff for help, and not only they didn't help at all, but also treated me in a very offensive way. Despite they had the entry log to my room showing that someone entered it at 21:45 (I was away from 21:00 'till 22:15), they insisted that there was nothing wrong and I was lying. The chief of security even said to me that it was my problem and he didn't care, because it was not his money.

    Good choice in Casablanca

    by

Good hotel, centrally located, and has a couple of resturants, swimming pool and discotheque for entertainment.

Room service is very efficent and fast.

    Food is good.

Staff is friendly, speaking Arabic, French, Spanish and English.

Rooms are neat and tidy and overall a satisfactory experience.

lame hotel in Casablanca

refurbished rooms with two single beds? must be some local preference, worthless IMO. Elevators that are incredibly slow and ugly decor, just not a good hotel despite them having decent service. good location

"At Casa for training"

I went in Casablanca, not as a tourist, but to make training courses. So I saw few of the city, my hotel (IDOU ANFA was far from the major attractions).
Fortunately, I went to the panoramic bar at the 16e floor (15e because there is no 13e for superticious reasons) to have a panorama on the city with the Assan 2 mosque in the distance.
I was surprised by the great number of dish antennas and buildings on construction. There are few Morocan channels and the inhabitants like to watch French n Arabian channels. The country is partially protected against the global crisis and the groth is fast.

To be continued : I will be invited for a new training.

Casablanca Accomm

by Creedo

Thanks to DR38 for reply to earlier question.

I'm getting bad vibes on accomm in Casablanca but have to stay for at least one night - can anyone advise where the best area is to stay and be close to tapas/restaurants.

Any recommendations on a reasonable Riad or hotel for around US$100 would be appreciated.

What is a "must do" if only in town for 24 hrs.

Thanks in anticipation.

Stay at the ANFA - upscale, sexy, totally phat. You'll dig it and it's only a little over the price range.

If you arrive during the day, you can go from the Airport to Marakish by train. You might have to change trains @ Casa Voyageurs but that should not be a difficult thing to do.

I think that Idou Anfa is a good hotel.

Good luck

if you are out of the Airport before 22:30 you can take a train to the city (again Casa Voyageurs station) and take a petit taxi to the hotel. The taxi should be metered and a day fare will be around 20 dh to Idou Anfa Hotel. a night fare will be around 30 dh.

If you arrive late and want only to sleep in Casa than I would suggest Ibis Mossafir hotel exactly next door to Casa Voyageur train station

Another idea (from someone who doesn't like Casablanca much): stay at the Ibis hotel in the forecourt of Casa Voyageurs station, then leave town and go to El Jadida instead! It's a relaxed, pretty seaside town that also has an Ibis virtually on the beach.
