Re: Wish to rent a vehicle and driver for the Imperial cities tour
I think you can deal with a company to arrange a tour for you (a car and driver) you just need to add the accommodation; and buy a tour!
My recommendation : go-maroc.com
driving in Morocco is not that big deal; I have done many trips on my own and drove to rabat from Marrakesh and to the south..etc the roads are in good shap and no need to lose your hair thinking about it.
Travel Tips for Casablanca
Make sure you keep a good supply of small change. Petit taxis expecially only take cash and it will only be a small amount. Toilets also on roadstops will cost you and it will be more expensive if you have to buy something just to get some change. As I found, they will price something so that you won’t be given small coins in return. Paying for the toilet will be separate to an attendant.
This is a very delightful drink. It nice sparking water that comes in 2 different flavors or concentrations; a natural form and light forms as you can see the 2 different color bottles. The bottle will cost you eithre 4 dh or 8 dh depending on the size. You can buy it from the supermarket or any cafe.
This is Perrier like water and I was so impressed that I thought it was worth to mention. When I learned that I can visit the bottling facility I did not even think about it. I visited the bottling facility at the town of Oulmes where this water comes out of springs. You’ll have to have your own transportation as this facility is located In the middle of no where. You can witness the entire production process. I found the detour to be very entertains and interesting. There is a nearby hotel that can arrange you trip. I did not use this service and I don’t remember the name. Sorry
Azmmor is a relaxed small city, that has an old medina, and cheap accommodation.
Today it is still ignored by tourist and VTers :-) so why visit?? Well if you looking for a quite beach, If you want to meet real Moroccans and avoid other tourists come to Azmmour. The city is only one hour drive from CasaBlanca and you can get to the city by a train, taxi or a bus.
If you are stuck in Casablanca and you want to get away from the crowded polluted city, visit Azmmor. walk around the medina with its narrow strrets, walk along the river walk, see the Old synegouge and grave of rabbi Abraham, visit the castle and marvle at the city walls. In Azmmour no body will hassel you and every body is minding his own buisness. If you liked the city and wanted to stay few days there are 2 excellent and very affordable hotels. Riad Azmah which is in 500-700 dh suits per night and Hotel Victorie which is a budget hotel
If you would like to know more about the city please feel free to visit my Azmmore page
Fishing and beaches
Casablanca is an industrial, busy and modern city. The seaside is covered by busy port (one of the biggest in Africa) to the east and rocky, cliffed coast-line to the west that is towards the Hassan II Mosque.
There is no beach in the city. You can find it in Ain-Diab a few km south-west of a city (get a taxi). Hmm... I didn't look for the beaches in Casablanca. The only place with "civilized" beach in Morocco I have found was Agadir.
Fishing in Casablanca? Hmm.. the water in the ocean can not be so clean there because of the port, I suppose. I've found a few local fishermans catching fish on ugly seaside close to Hassan II Mosque.
And I surely tasted some delicious fish in restaurants of Casablanca (Fish couscous was great). I don't know where did they catch the fish :-).
CTM bus to Marrakech
CTM have 9 buses departing for Marrakech.
Journey time is 4 hours.
Tickets are around 70 dirhams plus 5 dirhams for luggage.
Please use this as a rough guide only.
The bus station in Casablanca is the headquarters for the company with destinations all over the country. There is also a very nice cafe next door.
