Camels?

by RosannaRosanna

Hello
I am going to Marrakech next week and wondering how to go about arranging a camel trip (possibly in desert) for an hour or two. Also wondering how much I should be expecting to pay for this? If anyone has any suggestions - please post!

Hi
firstvl the trip at least 2/3 days ( not an exhauted trip) . using pub trasport or hiring a car well be fine . i recommend the local habitante at the edg of the desert . you can buy a trip from marakech or buy a trip from the nearest town to the desert ( camps where you'll spend a night) ...
for trips from marakech .try www.go-maroc.com
for trips more cheaper try assou or les nomades . you'll pay 40/50€
hotel offer that services also but stil have it's stress

Hi there
hi Celina what's up ,? where have you been .?
yes about my comment i'll add les nomades adresse here and i recommend them also some poepl i know went with assou ( this time) .they had a great time .
lesnomadesaharabevouac@gmail.com .
also i have a question for you celina why you don't write any adresses about assou . agree with the previous reply you may go on your own until the 2cities at the edge of the desert and buy a trip there or buy it from marakech that's mean you'll start your trip from there and the transport is includ in the price you pay .

hi
i was in morocco in december and took a camel ride in essaouira along the beach and through the dunes.it cost 10 euro for about 1 1/2 hours and it was great.essaouira is 3 hours by bus to the coast but worth it. see the castle in the sand that inspired jimi hendrix and visit Diabet, the berber village where he lived.no need to book just walk along the beach and the camel guys will find you and take you to the forementioned places.have a great trip.

Hi
i don't think that it's same feeling whene you ride a camel in the desert where it's homeland ...essaouira could be a nice place to have sunbath ;

Re: Camels?

by fredcorcoran

maybe not but if you dont want to spend too much time and money on it and just want to experience a camel ride i think its a good option.ive done an overnight trek in the desert also and i would still say the beach/dunes ride at essaouira was worth it. depends on what you want.

Re: Camels?

i do agree with travel-writer getting to the desert have it's advantages wich is all the places you'll see on the way . but it depend on what the poster wants i guess ride camel in essaouira will be okay too ; in my openion ride camels is 2 diferent things ( 1st one is to ride a camel just get on the camel for 2/1h and the 2nd part ride camels could be an advanture in the desert ) going to the desert is an other trip .and riding camels in essaouira will be 'tip'.
and we can say go to essaouira for sunbath and ride a camel for 1h as a tip out the big image of essaouira caracters...

join an excursion/ take a side-trip and explore the Ourika Valley located in the High Atlas Mountains near Marrakech. The one hour or so drive there is beautiful and you'd even catch a glimpse of snow-capped mountains (!!) in the distance. You won't regret it, I guarantee.

Hotel Es-Saadi Casino

by keeweechic

The hotel complex is huge and within the grounds is a casino and nightclub. Entrance is free but men will need a jacket and tie. While the stakes are fairly high, this casino is not quite as grand as the Mamounia Casino.

Cafe des Espices

by sue_stone about Cafe des Espices

It was our first morning in Marrakech, and after exploring Djemaa el-Fna and amazing over the goods on offer in the medicine sellers & healers souq we were in need of a calming drink.

We stumbled across lovely Place Rabha Kdima, and decided that Cafe des Espices looked like the perfect place to take a break. This small, three level, open-fronted café sits in the middle of the square, making it the perfect place for people watching. The roof terrace offers great views across the Medina. We chose a small sunny table at the front of the café and ordered some drinks – Alison had an espresso and I ordered a soothing mint tea. If you need something to eat you can choose one of their sandwiches, salads or perhaps an omelette

It was a lovely place to relax for a while and watch the market activity in front of us.

Sightseeing in Marrakesh

by DanielF

Although there are plenty of monuments and sights in Marrakesh - palaces, madrasas (coranic schools), graves - the overall aspect of the city is not really monumental. Most of the buildings are quite insignificant as seen from outside and even the interiors can hardly compete with the ones in other places. In Marrakesh, the real attraction is the city itself, its atmosphere and its inhabitants (the ones that leave you alone, that is).

Since most of the attractions are not so obvious to find in the maze of the medina, it is advisable to hire the services of an official guide at the tourist office. He will show you the way through the souks and narrow lanes and provide with explanations on the buildings and traditions of the city. And, most importantly, he will keep away the impertinent adn pesky vendors, beggars and faux guides who otherwise would be following you all the time.

Djemma el Fnaa- afternoon

by suvanki

Around 4pm, the square becomes a hive of activity, as carts arrive bearing stalls and benches etc, accompanied by an army of men who set about unloading the carts, and setting up the stalls, in anticipation of feeding the hoards of visitors and locals who flock to the square for refreshment.

At this stage, I was usually heading back to my hotel, so I didn't get to see the stacks of food being painstakenly arranged into attractive displays.
