I stayed at a 4 star hotel at the modern part of marrakech of Gueliz. The hotel was near Majorell Gardens, at Yacoub el Mansour, a perpendicular street of Mohammed V.
It was ok, the restaurant had a good buffet for breakfast and dinner, and a disco downstaris, but I was advice not to go there at night alone :))
It is from a walking distance to Djemaa F'na Plaza, about 30 or 40 minuts, but perhaps is better to choose a nearer hotel to Mohammed V, because Mohammed V have many buses.
