Disappointing Experience
We stayed there for 5 days on October and had a very disappointing time. The place was only half full but yet when we went to restaurants which were empty we were told that we could not have a bigger table than the allocated table for two! Food was mediocre and totally unexciting. The hotel is very tired and needs updating - the rooms were not in good shape. The service was the worst - completely unmotivated and resented actually doing anything for us. We were so disappointed as having never been there before, the website showed an exciting vibrant place, which is quite expensive, but it failed to deliver on every front. We explained our disappointment to the General Manager who told us that if we were disappointed to go home to our own country and not come back!.....

I would recommend doing this on the first day so you know where do you want to focus on. It was 130 dirham per person (roughly 13 euro on 17th Feb 2007) The staff was very helpful. They have two lines, one in the old town and one outside. (Marrakech Monumental and Marrakech Romantiqe) It takes about 1and a half hour for each route...so enjoy. :) Stops for Marrakech Monumental: 1. Office dutourisme 2. Hotel Agal 3. Theatre Royal 3. Cost of food and drinks in Marrakesh?

Hi All,
I am going to Marrakesh for a ten day holiday in July. Can anyone tell me roughly how much food and drink costs in the hotels, restaurants, bars and shops etc... I have been told it is cheaper than in the UK but have also heard it is expensive. Can someone please shed some light on this. Will I need to take much spending money with me?

Thank you very much Kerst, all info is really useful...don't want to arrive without enough spending money. We are staying out of town a fair bit at the Palmeraie Golf Palace so may not get to go to the town too much unfortunatly but certainly want to give it a try, no point going otherwise!

We just returned. I also suggest Dar Essalam as a treat.
I must ask...Do you plan to stay in Marrakech for the entire ten days? I originally planned six days & was told by almost everybody on this board that three was more than enough. They were absolutely right! We took their advice and had an amazing time.
