Henna Ladies
by Urban_Kitten
"Henna ladies" (as I like to call them) are ubiquitous in Morocco. Often they will aggressively grab your hand in an effort to start the hennaing process before you can say "no" or strike a price. I found that the best way to deal with this is to have your hands hennaed at the very first opportunity (either back home or when you first land in Morocco). When a Henna Lady grabs your hand and sees that someone has beaten her to you, she'll back off immediatel ... it's easier than saying no over & over again.
Inflated fares

To distinguish the two types of taxis, the small yellow ones are the "petite taxis" and the larger '80s Mercedes are the "grand taxis".
When taking a petite taxi to anywhere in Marrakech, note that if you are being charged more than 25 Dirhams you are being ripped off. I was told this by a local.
Petite taxis can hold up to 3 people while grand taxis can hold 4 or more people. When taking a petite taxi, insist on having the meter turned on or else you run the risk of being ripped off outrageously. Taking small change with you will be very helpful as well!
The only exception is when you are travelling to/fro the airport when you might have to pay just a bit more. One-way cost of such a ride would be about 50-70 Dirhams.

KSAR ES SAOUSSAN
3, Derb Chorfa el Messaoudyenne. Tel.: 04 4440632.
To get there, follow Fatima Zohra St from the Koutubia and turn right at Sidi el Yamami St. Some 100 mt after the arch, there is a sign on the wall. A black man in a red gown will be waiting there for you, to take you to the restaurant through some narrow alleys: very mysterious, indeed!
This old mansion has been wonderfully restored and offers 3 fix menus with increasing prices (300, 400 & 500 Dh) and amount of food. If you eat normally, a small menu is more than enough (even for 2, I think!!). It includes a cocktail, wine, dessert and tea.
Medina Shopping - The Spice Stall
by Mikebb
Walking through the crowded streets of the medina is full of surprises, anything may appear in front of you. A most colourful store was the Spice Shop with cones of the various spices on display. We found it to be eye catching.
I had seen photos over the years , but to actually see the display was something special.
Summer Trip To Morocco

"Marrakech-Zagora-Zahara-Atlas-Essouira"
I was in Morocco for a 10 days trip, end of May to early June 2006. I never dreamt of coming to this interesting county and met a bunch of friendly people along the way. The locals are friendly although they seems aggresive. And I never thought riding a camel is very uncomfortable, especially for two hours on the Sahara desert. The Berber tents erected on the desert, the sounds of camel, the drums, the grilled lamb, the stars..... magnificent moments! Read more in my blog....
The Essouira - very ancient fishing port/city.... relaxing by the Atlantic seashore.....
