Fabulous Riad in Marrakech

Riad Dalia is right in the heart of the medina in Marrakech. It is a small family run establishment, beautifully decorated and furnished, quiet and welcoming.
The owner is really helpful, friendly and chatty and serves up wonderful fresh breakfasts of boiled eggs, fresh rolls and yogurts each morning.

The only downside was that we got woken up very early each morning by the call to prayer at the local mosque, although it was quite funky and made us feel like we were really somewhere exotic!

Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a true flavour of the real Marrakech!

Hi! I stayed at The Moroccan House in Marrakesh, which I thought was very good value
http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/6f35e/20372e/3/- (for my tip and photos) -
also www.moroccanhousehotels.com

Try checking out mine and other VTers pages for tips of places, and www.Bookings.com, www.hostelbookers.com, www.Venere.com for some more ideas of accommodation in the cities you're visiting.

Best Wishes,
Sue

As Suvanki says above - try having a look at the accommodation tips made by VTers in the travelguide sections of VT - its not only the forums that provide info.

i have tips of accom such as Hotel Gazelle, about 10 euro, for the basic prices you want to pay - also even Hotel Foucould if you ask them to let you have aroom without breakfast you will be able to get a good room for about 16 euro.

you dont need to stay at hostels - eg the youth hostel is inconveniently away from the main square and areas, for not much financial advantage. there are a number of el cheapo hotels in the handy ares of the main square that you can stay at instead.

Thank you Suvanki, Alejandrom and Angiebabe... I'm new on VT, so i'm still exploring all possibilities. I was on few forums before and some people told me that I must book online for accomodation, because Marrakech will be full in that time of the year (28.03 - 08.04.). Is it true? So, I'm intending to book a room for first two days and than find something there, where I can see real situacion... And I would like to be in Fes (and I will), but my plane is flying to Marrakech, so first and last days we will be there... Do viđenja (on croatian for goodbye:-)

Those places Ive recommended have phone numbers in my tips and can booked by phone - not all places are online. and not all places have to go through online booking agencies and sites.
generally unless there is a place you particularly want to stay at its safe enough to turn up - as long as not too late in the day and find somewhere to stay
without imperatively pre booking.

Hello,
we stayed in Fez in Hotel Lamrani - 180 DH double room, exactly in Medina, just ask people over there. In Marrakech we stayed in Hotel Toulousain, I don't remember the price anymore, but also budget around 180 DH. In Rabat I can recommend Hotel Splendid, 190 Dh double room, but much nicer than those two others. We booked in advance only the hotel in Marrakech hoteltoulousain@yahoo.fr.
Enjoy in Morocco!

LA KASBAH (Ait Ben Haddou)
In the modern part of Ait Ben Haddou, just in front of the main parking, as you arrive. This hotel has a restaurant in the next building, with a wonderful view to the Kasbah, and a nice staff. Touristic menu for 100 Dh.
To get here from Ouarzazate, turn right at km. 23 in the road to Marrakesh.

WATCH LA MARCHE VERT

by DAO

La Marche Vert is the acrobatic airplane display team of the Royal Moroccan Air Force. They fly small and nimble propeller driven airplanes called the CAP323. I was fortunate to see them as they flew over Marrakech to celebrate the birthday of King Hassan. The first picture shows them performing a manoeuvre with one airplane leaving the formation and then cutting across the other airplanes. It was really a lot of fun to watch and it was totally free. I did not even know it was going to happen until they suddenly appeared!

Inside Courtyard

by keeweechic

There are two other courtyards with jasmine, cypress, lemon and orange trees. It is believed that Ba Hmad, Sdid Moussa’s son, received government representatives in these areas. Zellij tile work is laid out in beautiful designs on the floor of the courtyards and surround small fountains.
