we are looking for a recommendation for a riad where we can rent the whole house. We are two couples so would want at least two decent sized double rooms. We are willing to pay a fair amount if necessary, upto say 200-300 USD for the whole house.
Some of the ones I've looked at mention a cook, do the riads tend to include meals in the price or is it just a facility offered?
We are looking at early december. thanks for any tips.
thats $200-$300 per night, we are going for a week
most raids have more than two rooms. if you want to rent the whole riad it may cost a little bit more. it will also depend on when you date of booking. Marrakech tends to be expensive in peak season( December; Feb- March- April
meals are not included in the price. you can eat at the riad or outside .The only thing included is Breakfast
If you don't mind sharing the rikad with others, I'll offer some recommendations
Ps should book as soon as possible otherwise you won't find any vacancy
thanks, any tips most welcome
you could try dar Khmissa. It's centrally located_ just behind hotel Tazi and some 5 minutes' walk from jemaa elfna. A double room should cost 50 euros
You probably already have done a google lookup - ive often roamed around and found some interesting sites with info on riads for rent. will always have a cook available if you wish. you could always pay for a local woman to cook and go shopping for the stuff you need.
doing business in morocco is usually by who knows who knows who - so maybe try phoning local businesses eg a hotel from a guidebook, eg. i have connections but i got chatting with the manager when I stayed at Hotel Islane, so for me i reckon he might make a good contact and i could phone him and ask who hed know that might be able to do such and such if i needed something myself in marrakech.
and and ask if they know anyone with a riad for rent and such. somebody there will always know someone who knows someone with this and that and so on looking for an opportunity to do a deal.
its not necessarily the way we do it here that something we need must be all credentialled and only via the approved way for tourists.
200-300USD/day? That is easily doable. Either nicer luxury (not whole house) or local bohemic chique (whole house). Cook included...as an extra that they know will pull foreigners, but not a major deal. Even if it doesn't mention cook. You could negotiate it.
