Delightful Dar One
Stunning riad! It's so beautiful and atmospheric at night when all the candles are lit. Everyone is so helpful and friendly, and they give great recommendations on bars and restaurants. We loved it!

Stunning riad! It's so beautiful and atmospheric at night when all the candles are lit. Everyone is so helpful and friendly, and they give great recommendations on bars and restaurants. We loved it!
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Riad Dar One at the beginning of July in the lovely Mirage room on the 1st floor which overlooked the beautiful, serene courtyard and plunge pool. The Riad itself was gorgeous, and looked like a scene from a style magazine - Jean the owner definitely has an eye for detail! The Riad looked picture perfect everyday, but still felt like a home away from home and was extremely comfortable and inviting.
The room was amazing - dark pewter walls, soft lighting, gorgeous furnishings - a seriously sexy room! The bathroom was to die for - lovely fittings and a massive taledakt bathtub big enough to fit two people easily.
Jean was a charming host and recommended places to eat and drink. The other staff were also lovely and booked all our restaurants and advised us on the easiest way to get to the main square and how much to pay for things in the souks etc.
This was an unforgettable experience and we are already planning our next trip to Marrakech - we will definitely be staying at the Riad dar One again!
Good Riad, good value, agree with all the other TA reviews. had a great time, but too many mistakes to justify such a top billing
Specifically, we had booked two rooms for two nights and we had received email confirmation. It was only when we followed up to request optional transfers that it came to light that only one room had been reserved. If we hadn't double checked then we would have had a major problem and hassle on arrival
Second, one of the two couples was therefore put in a different Riad close by for one night which was fine. The Riad was Riad W . Riad W asked us to pay 90 Euros for the room direct, but it had been agreed that Riad Dar One would settle that bill and then charge us for the whole stay. This, Riad Dar One did but charged us at their room rate of 120 Euros, that was30 Euros more arising from their booking mistake!
Third, the final bill bore little reference to taxes and a deposit that had been paid and set out in a confirming prior email.
We may have been unlucky, but for such a nice Riad, dar One really should get its paperwork and charging spot on to retain its top billing on TA. We hope it does
We staid in the Riad Dar One for 5 night, on our first stay in Marrakech. After the moment the hughe wooden door is closed behind you after you enter the Riad you feel you are welcome. A cool breeze and a small waterfall welcomed us in the small (6 room) hotel. The Riad has one room on the ground floor, four on the first and one on the roof (beware, the roof can be extremely hot in summer (June / July) time, but there is airco (silent, and very functional) in every room.
Breakfast is served on the time you wish for, including a (small) variety of breads and jam. Our room was clean, but a little dark. This is not an disadvantage, but looks more romantic. Only while packing your bag a lot of light is nice :)
The big shower had enough power, and there was plenty of space to leave our clothes (on shelves, very rare in Maroc!). Our double bed was well firm, and there were enough pillows available.
During the night it's very quiet, but after you exit the Riad and walk through the maze of small streets you will soon find yourself to be dusty and hot. Well that's Maroc!
The Riad is a nice 5 minute walk away from the big square, no problem to walk there at night (enough social control). Taxis can be found at 2 minutes from the Riad, and there is plenty of places to eat. Just beware of hygine!
The Riad booked us a guided tour as well, and took care of cleaning our clothes and fixing up a pair of shoes: superb!
We will surely recommend this Riad to anyone visiting Marrakech.
We stayed at Dar One at the end of June in 45 degree heat and had a wonderful experience. Jean and his staff are an exceptional example of what hospitality should be. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and at home . We would recommend this Riad to anyone visiting Marrakech.
I don't feel the need to add too much to what's already been written (though I wanted to add some photographs); suffice to say that the decoration is very contemporary and well-finished but still in keeping with that Marrakech riad style.
I've stayed in other Riads to the north of the main square, and am happy to report that this location, in the southern part of the medina, is just as good and very convenient for several of the main sights of the old city, including the Palaces.
If you're in need of cold beers or a nice wine after a dusty day sightseeing, then the close-by Kozi Bar is to be recommended. Otherwise, the Riad has a lounge available to residents, with comfortable furniture, a stereo and a flatscreen tv with international satellite channels.
We stayed in two rooms (late booking and so only way to accommodate us) both of which were beautiful and enjoyable. Firstly the room on the roof terrace, and secondly the room at ground floor level off the pool terrace. I've uploaded pictures.
The staff were great, smiling, helpful and friendly, and they are always available, night and day; the breakfast plentiful and tasty; the owner and his dogs also made us feel at home and comfortable.
Not many times does a place look as good as in the brochure... But this Riad looks even better!
It's a true and quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of lively Marrakesh. The rooms are all decorated with a great eye for detail and style and there are fresh flowers everywhere. The salon and roof terrace are the perfect places to relax with a drink in a modern Moroccan atmosphere. The food is great and the breakfast is an excellent start of the day.
Jean is a great host with many knowledge about the city and it's hotspots and the staff is very friendly and helpful!
I definitely recommend this place for a stay in Marrakech!
You arrive in Marrakech's Medina, where this riad is located, and you start feeling the madness around you. You walk through narrow streets and after 2 minutes you're in an oasis.
The riad is completely refurbished, the rooms are very good (though ours was a bit dark) and service is superb. The staff is really friendly and the owner, Jean, could provide you with cool tips about the city.
What a fabulous place to stay. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who made us feel like the place was our home. With only 6 rooms it was like we had the place to ourselves as we rarely saw other guests. The roof top garden was peaceful and relaxing after a busy day in the Medina and even a great place to enjoy breakfast.
Would highly recommend staying at this place if you visit Marrakech.
This is surely the best place to stay when visiting Marrakech. The location is fantastic, a little over a five minute walk to the souk. Also less than one minute to the beautiful Bahia palace.
The room was incredibly luxurious - exceeded our expectations. The bathroom in particular was beautiful. The air conditioning was perfect, and storage was great.
My only regret is that I didn't use the inviting looking plunge pool!
The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Laundry was arranged for us for a reasonable price, and internet access was readily available, and free.
I would certainly stay here again if I revisited Marrakech.

Does anyone know of somewhere nice for a couple to stay in Marrakech?
The area to stay seems to be close to Djemaa el-Fna.
We would like air con and a pool but like the idea of a riad.
unfortunately , most riads don't have a pool , but a plunge or splash. you will be better off staying at a hotel. Try Hotel Akbar in Hivernage. It's not expensive and within walking distance from Jemaa Elfna square
just came back from Marrakech, stayed in Riad Dar One (www.riad-dar-one.com).
very nice, stylish, really special, aircondition, but only a plunge pool.
good central but quite location in a non-touristy area down in a little dead-end-alley the Medina, about 10 minutes walk to Djemma el Fna and the Souks.
but you should like dogs (owner has three) and it is better if you speak at least a little French.
It looks lovely, even better that they have dogs.
Thanks.
Try the Imperial Hotel, it is located in the centre od Marrakesh and cost around $70.00 CAD if you book online but if you call the hotel it's self you can pay about $500 to $600 MAD. They have a nice pool at the back yard. The breakfast is terrible so don't think of eating there but lots of other resturands around. I just got back from Morocco on July 23, spent about 5 days in various cities.
