Cozy and comfortable stay

We searched accommodations based on budget, then by reviews, then by location. We did read a couple negative reviews of Riad el Az, but after our stay, we did not share the same opinion.

The Riad is in the lowest cost range, so may not be one of the most sophisticated, but was very comfortable. The rooms were spacious, clean, had good ventilation with the windows open and good air conditioning with the windows closed.

The other negative reviews mentioned noise. We were fortunate that we were the only guests, so I cannot speak for how sound carries within the courtyard, but we heard absolutely nothing from the city.

The breakfasts were simple with bread, jam and butter. But the manager was even kind enough to prepare it for us at 6am when we had to leave early. You would not get such service at a larger hotel.

Unique Quality: Nothing truly unique, but the rooftop terrace was nice to lounge in the sun. The rooms did have new and strong air conditioners.

The Riad is about 7 minutes walk from the main Plaza of the Medina. It is in the southwest corner of the Medina.
