Best Riad - La Maison Rouge

    by

This riad was amazing! it was conservatively priced for the accomodations and the services! They have a roof top pool and breakfast is included (Morrocan pancakes and an array of pastries and jams, beautifully served). There is a bar and in the evening drinks are available as well as some music to sit and enjoy the evening (loved the Rolling Stones!)

We stayed in 2 different rooms in this riad and fell in love with the suite (69 euro a night). It had a queen sized bed, private bath, ac, and sitting area.

The service was wonderful and they even did laundry for a nominal charge. It is a little difficult to find but most all of the riads are - our taxi driver called the riad and got directions (which seems to be the norm and no big deal) The location of this riad is a bit of a walk to the medina (city center) but still within the city walls and better located then the other riads we stayed at.

The owner of this riad is french and she resides there. Owners pride certainly shows in the details, from the super clean rooms to the excellent staff - I am surprised it only has a 2 star rating. She also has 2 dogs a Jack Russell Terrier and and Black Lab - usually unseen (probably AC hounds like mine) but when they are out and about they are very friendly and extremely well behaved - it was a very nice touch, made it feel very homey ... if not a little homesick for my dog at home.

This riad books up quickly - so make a reservation asap.

Unique Quality: roof top terrace and splash pool.

Directions: Get thier phone number when you book and bring it with you for the Taxi driver!

"2 females travelling"

on arrival we found it really easy to get our money changed into dirham, theres a bureau de change at the airport, we changed £120 enough to keep us going !! (nearly lasted the whole 4 days !). We left the terminal and followed signs to taxi rank, where there were plenty to choose from, we chose a petite taxi as they are cheaper than large/mercedies ones. We negotiated price of 100 drhm to take us to Riad Maison Rouge. We arrived about 10 mins later.

"Riad Maison Rouge."

This place is beautiful as you can see, it even sells alcohol, which not all riads/ hotels do, added bonus i think ! Ican recomend this riad because its about 15 min stroll to the square, so it makes it a peaceful haven away from all the noise of the city. Also the staff are really friendly and its not expensive, we paid 47 eurs per night for double room with breakfast. BARGAIN. There is also a roof terrace with pool but in nov. the pool was too chilly.

"The place jemma el fna"

This is where you can sit and watch the world go by, a vibrant excitng area.Especially at night, dont be scared to eat in the middle section i was at first thinking of hygene but we were fine the food cheap and good, surprisingly i would eat there again.Entance to soukes are off the square.
We found only 2 places to have a drink (Alcohol) those being The Grand Tazi Hotel ( a bit ropey) but got a cold Hieneken, and lovely restraunt called the Kozy bar/ restruant which is near the BADI palace, well worth a visit, although more pricey but had a bottle of wine YIPPEE.(not that i'm an alcy!!!)
