Place Jemaa el-Fna, wich means...

Place Jemaa el-Fna, wich means dead's gathering, nothing related to what this square becomes after sunset, infact hundreds of people there cooking, playing bongos, telling stories, playing with snakes, and whatever else can entertain tourists
drums and other store
by jo-allyn about Musical Instruments
I play middle eastern music, percussion. As a result, I was on a quest for bendirs(framedrums) in the souk. I was delighted to find quite a few "shops" stuffed full with drums!! I bought one excellent sounding bendir for $13.00 which was an excellent price. To make up for that wise purchase, I paid way too much for a square framedrum (in keeping with a quickly established tradition of not being able to bargain well!!)
I was so enthusiastic about all the drum shops I visited that day. I did an excellent job of getting address info from them all. The bad news i do not now know which picture goes with which address!!
As a result, I am going to list the addresses and phone numbers in one list knowing that whichever one you end up, in you won't be disappointed (as long as you BARGAIN)

People watchers' paradise
by lucyt about The Terrace de l'Alhambra
Whilst this place is perhaps better know for its terraces that afford great views of the Djemma el Fna, I tend to sit outside on the ground floor.
It 's dependable for a fix of Earl-Grey tea. In those little cups with the annoying handles so small you can't get your fingers through... Very nice pizzas from 55 dhs. Food stuffs are served with a bottled of oil in which are steeped herbs, garlic and chillies. Very very nice.
Medina

A maze and I really mean a maze of market style shops, weaving in and out of a hubbub of back street and paths. You have seen it in movies where people disappear into unmarked alleys and shops never to be found whilst hiding from foe and I sure can see why that could be the case now. I myself would never have found my way out...ok, ok, so those who know me also know I was not blessed with much of a sense of direction but even so this one would even be tough on the SAS.
It's vibrant, it's colourful, magical, interesting, bustling and everyone sells similar things. It's like stepping back in time and be careful if you try to take anyones pic without payment.
This is Marrakesh as you imagine it. Awesome!
The Kasbah Mosque
by mafi_moya
Not really much to say about this one as it's yet another mosque that doesn't allow non-Muslims to enter. But it's still a pretty impressive sight and as it's near the Saadian tombs and the Palais el-Badi you might as well have a look. At prayer times the street outside is absolutely packed with worshippers - it's one of the city's most popular mosques.
