More about Riad Le Clos des Arts

Wonderful Riad Le Clos des arts

by TripAdvisor Member charlotte37

I spent some unforgettable days at the Riad Le Clos des arts, in the heart of Marrakesh . The proper touch of "exotic" from the
inspiring perfumes of the bath foams to the carefully prepared dinners served on the terrace at candle light.. The staff is extremely kind and available and makes you feel at home in such unusual and different surroundings Thanks !

An Oasis

by TripAdvisor Member SimeLondon

Set in a quiet little street only a few minutes walk from the main square right in the heart of the Medina is this beautiful Riad.
It is run by a charming and helpful couple, who guided us on places to visit, restaurants hammams and even a trip into the Atlas mountains
As with so many city visits the location of your hotel is vital and this could not be better positioned. It has a lovely courtyard with six beautifully decorated bedrooms and a roof terrace to relax and have breakfast on, after a busy day weaving through the souks it was wonderful to return to this oasis in such a busy city.
It was perfect and I can't wait to return.

Lovely place

by TripAdvisor Member MarineLondon

Our stay was really amazing. The owner of the Riad is really nice and he helped us make bookings and made plenty of very good recommendations about places to go and eat. The Riad is also lovely and very close to the main square but still very quiet at night. The staff was really nice too and really helpful. All around we had an amazing stay and I would definitely recommend this place.

Great chistmas celebration for the whole family

by TripAdvisor Member Celebracion_Familiar

We have a wounderful stay in the The Clos des Arts Ryad. We close the full Ryad for our family, we were 15 members from 8 to 70 years and we all love the place and the food.
This 2008 Christmas eve dinner was great and unforgetable.
The owners were really nice and took care of us all the time helping with the organitation of all visits and trips.
The Ryad is really nice, beds and rooms are really confortable, with internet and TV.

Stunning riad with rooftop pool

by A TripAdvisor Member

Perfect stay in a stunning riad.

Beautifully decorated throughout, with lovely touches everywhere from the petals in the fountain to the bathroom toiletries.

Breakfast was delicious, we also stayed in the riad for dinner which was such a romantic setting in the courtyard lit by candles. The lamb tagine was tasty too.

Staff were wonderful and friendly giving hints on places to go.

Great location in the heart of the medina.

We combined this with a 3 night stay at Dar Zemora which is out in La Palmerie. A very different but complimentary stay.

We will definitely return.

Just brilliant

by TripAdvisor Member bJONESlondon

I checked the trip advisor list of Riads in Marakech and this one - with funky rooms, traditional atrium and even a pool on the roof appealed. And it wasn't too expensive. Booking was easy. An email to the Riad was answered promptly, my request to be met at the airport and have a meal on our first night was immediately agreed....anx this first time visitor to Marrakech thought a quick bit of winter sunsine might turn out OK. In fact it ws brilliant. The Riad is charming, the staff are eager to please, and best of all the owner is fantatically helpful. Jean Peirre is French, quit Nice 4 years ago and set up in Marrakech with wife and daughter. A perfect host, delighted to fix trips to Atlas mountains, recommend restaurants and advise on how to avoid gettng ripped off. The hotel is a wonderful place to escape the hurley burley, the breakfast is a delight.....and nothing is too much trouble. And the roof terrance is wonderful - even in Janaury. Warning :-
(i) The pool is tiny, even if it looks big in the phot, and freezing in January. But so what. I'm sure it's perfect to cool down in the baking summer. (ii) This Riad is really tucked away, down a maze of alleys. Paying to be met at the airport and brought into town and right to the front door is worth it. This service is not expensive - 20 euros I think - ....and can be added to your bill. This place will make your spirits soar!

Oasis in Marrakech

by TripAdvisor Member ampiasc

My husband booked directly with the Riad, based solely on the pictures on the site. It was a lovely oasis - caringly decorated and restored, the riad was a treat. The breakfast was delicious, and I loved the freshly bakes cookies/biscuits that accompanied our mint tea on arrival. JP, the owner was an excellent host and recommended a great restaurant for dinner (Dar Zellij) and helped orient ourselves. Due to low season, we were the only guests there, which was quite nice. It was a great deal.

The only problem was that due to street construction, there was no water in our bathroom one morning (the toilet still worked) - it was resolved by mid afternoon, but was a little bit of an inconvenience. It wasn't the riad's fault, but thought it was worth mentioning.

Excellent Place!!

by TripAdvisor Member mexpaul

The location is at the heart of the medina. The french owners are very nice and helpful with anything you may need. The riad is decorated with a great artistic touch giving the place a magical atmosphere. The terrace is just great to enjoy breakfast or to read a book under the sun. The people are very friendly and make the guests feel like royalty, it was definitely added a lot of value to our stay in marrakech.

Amazing place!

by TripAdvisor Member Ettol

I couldn't agree more with the previous reviews. This riad is definitely very good! Great location, great staff and very relaxing.

We stayed here 5 nights in March 2009 and had a fantastic time! Thanks a lot, JP and Edith, for making our time in Marrakesh even more memorable.

Fascinating place

by TripAdvisor Member Betto45

Rooms are very charmy and clean, each of them giving a special sensation. The staff was really kind and supporting in giving info and suggestions for a wonderful stay. We had a romantic dinner in the patio with candles and rose petals on the tables, the food being really good.

Camel Treks / 4x4 trips from Marrakesh

by doobieleepr

Hi there folks
My partner and I are visiting Marrakesh in November and would be keen to do a camel trek or 4x4 tour through the Atlas mountains / sahara (for approx 3-5 days) I'm stuggling to find anywhere online that offers these without being part of a wider holiday package i.e. without all flights, accom included. Does anyone have any websites etc that they could point me in the direction of?
Thanks in adance

you could also have a read through previous posts. roam around peoples recommendations. i have contacts as do quite a few people. prices can vary and some tour operators really take advantage of tourists, so it really does pay to shop around. some used to recommend the packages that Hotel Ali in marrakech arrange and i dont know how they are these days but they can be phoned or looked up on their website, also check out what the lonely planet guide book says.
some private ones i know are www.bivouactours.com (mohammed on that site), abdoul 0021273625954.
it is easy and quite cost comparable to do it yourself, rent a car and drive around where you want to go, have an idea of accommodations along the way. all the auberges that are operating in the desert organise camel treks either with their own camels and camelmen or in combination with their associates. so a travel agent is not really absolutely necessary.
the auberges are all signposted from the tar seal road that goes all the way from risanni to merzouga and have their generally okay and drivable piste roads to get to them.
a few did get damaged or destroyed in the floods in may early june but amongst a number that you will see recommend by previous or frequent travellers main ones i culd recommend are erg chebbi auberge 0021261351656, auberge du sud if its back in action as it was partially damaged,
but definitely not sable d'or.
its easy enough to drive marrakech to, i would spend first night in telouet, then to ait benhaddou and then along the dades valley and up dades gorge, stay up there at auberge tissadrine or dades valley auberge, or if you go up todra gorge then stay at tamtatouche then to risanni for the souk and then out to the desert for a night, then back via nkob and agdz and ouarzazate and back to marrakech or from risanni up to midelt and azrou and over to kenifra and azilal and cascade douzoud and back to marrakech (a bit more of a push to get that done in 3-5 days though but doable.)

Try Omar from cameltrekking.com, I sent him an e-mail, he responded promply and gave me his cell phone. He can help you with your arrangements, but look at his web site too.
